    Not big on fireworks. I used to hate them cause of my time in Iraq. I've learned to live with the booms. But last year, we had a bit of an incident up one block in our HOA. It was actually a few days after on the 6th or 7th when someone let their teenage kids light off the stragglers. Kids don't know what the hell they are doing so the bottle rocket ended up wedging itself at near the overhang of their second story roof. Their entire house went up in flames and to make things worse, the houses are built so close together that our family friend had some heavy damage to their house as well. It also damaged the house on the adjacent side.

    Our friend and his family had to live in a hotel for 3-4 months while their house was being fixed. To make things worse for them, they ended up in a three way lawsuit between their insurance, the property owners insurance, and the renters that caused all of this havoc. Not sure how it ended, but it was an entire new level of hell for them.

    So come yesterday, the new neighbors that moved into the brand new house started shooting off fireworks and of course a bottle rocket got stuck on his side of the fence and almost caused a fire. He lost his #### and gave that family a thorough explanation on why they lived in a brand new house when everyone else's houses are 15 years old.

    Not gonna lie, suburban life is not for me. Gonna try to find me a chunk of land where I can add my own emergency bunker and a range to go shooting on year around.

    So our little yard is buried in freight. When the dem-panic first started, management freaked out and immediately furloughed half the company. (In retrospect, this has been widely regarded as a Bad Move.)

    So now, we can't get any replacement--let alone extra--drivers for...well...any reason. I volunteered to run on Friday to bring up two trailers, and ended up bringing twice that. Three out of the four haven't even been touched. We're going to be absolutely pummeled for this entire week, if not longer. And honestly, I wouldn't mind so much if they weren't constantly whining about our overtime levels. Saints preserve us, do you want the dang job done or not?? Send us some help, or stop crying about the fact that it actually takes time to accomplish tasks!

    SO, March of last year. My wife and I listed our house for sale. We got hit with the rainiest summer in my memory. Resulting in a wet basement for our house. Had several showings throughout the summer. But no luck.
    We're RIGHT IN town, .25 acre lot. Neighbors right on top of each other, 100 yr old house to boot.

    Flash forward to Feb. when we finally get a team in to re-drain the basement (which had been finished with a cement floor some 20+ years before we bought the house ourselves.
    March? COVID, can't show the house.
    April? Still covid, and NOW we're BOTH worried about keeping our jobs. Thankfully I work for a very small company and we were able to adjust, without having to layoff anyone. Despite the two companies that we interline for, taking back some of the regions that we used to deliver for them.
    But, we have picked up some freight from our other divisions like mail hauling and bulk liquid delivery. As well as out OTR side. The class A drivers we have, have all done some of the local truckload moves that would keep us home same day.

    Today? The house we're selling is supposed to close at the end of this month. We were able to begin showing it again.
    But, NOW there is hardly anything for US to look at in our area. That we can afford to buy, because we live in a resorty area that is within a couple hours of several large cities. Allowing their workers who can, to telecommute. So some of those people have decided to move here, and are buying up all the available property.

    I tell ya, a fella just can't win for losing some days.

    my co worker had hazmat today and the paper work said class 8, but the drums had class 8,6,3 danger labels. are we only supposed to placard class 8 or all 3 labels on trailer weight was 2,200lbs

    Too little information to give you a legal perspective. Cause some drums might have been one class while others are another. Then Dangerous is designed to cover a combination of mixed hazmat that exceeds 1,000 kg ( or 2205 lbs) of mixed hazmat if two or more materials don't meet their table requirements for individual placarding but exceed the previous stated weight.

    There are like a thousand ways to #### this all up. Which why there is individual testing that is required for this endorsement. Ultimately, it's the shippers responsibility to correctly lable each shipping unit and ensure the paperwork reflects what they are shipping. Some FMCSR also states that they are supposed to give you placards if the hazmat shipment requires the UN to be shown.

    In the end, it is on you on what you accept and move. You gotta see what is loaded and make sure the shipment is what they say it is. I've turned down two boxes of paint that had the flammable symbol printed on the side. Even though it wasn't reportable quantity, it was still hazmat and the BoL didn't reflect that portion.

    Need some help from my fellow friends. I am positive I am conveying the most legit advice. But if you see something I got wrong, you should feel to be obligated to correct me on this post. Hazmat is so easy to #### up but can land you in a deep pool of issues if the wrong person catches you.

    hazmat gets tricky. on ADRBOOK this particular hazmat was under class 6 but the labels say 3,6,8 ..... i've picked up at evonik and spectrum chemical and the paper work is all jacked up or un numbers are incorrect......ill scream yolo on the next load and just put what ever the paper says

    If I was in this position where I had an ounce of doubt that the BoL didn't match the shipment, I would write "SLC" and circle it somewhere on the BoL.

    For all you rookies that are lurking, it is short for Shipper Load Count. It's literally a personal note in your handwriting on an official shipping document that states that you were not there when they loaded you and that the placards you put up reflect your BoL.

    So if the BoL states 1,500 lbs of corrosives and you placard it as such, but the shipper snuck in another 500 lbs of Class 1.1 explosives going to the Number 1 nemesis of yours truly... Mr Wile E. Coyote (and Lord bless his heart), you now got some ammo to shoot back.

    "I'm sorry Mr Law, they insisted I stayed in the truck while they loaded me, Covid and all. But I got myself a signed BoL that says the shipper counted and loaded his/her freight. Please be so kind sir and give them a quick jingle so I can be on my way"

    That is serious advice. You think some shipping manager is going to pay a hazmat fine for you and take on some points? Once its on your trailer and leaves their property.. the moment your steer tire hrs public roads, it on you.
