Yikes, I thought most LTL outfits had a bit higher standards than that… that’s food service level or worse, OTR recruiting right there.
RIP, your shiny LT… -
Very nice looking corn binders!!!

Same thing happened at my barn. What terminal are you out of?

I hear that all the time at FxF, drivers reminiscing about how great the company used to be when it was Arkansas Freightways and then American Freightways. I used to recommend this company all the time for the first couple years I worked here, but I'm now at the point where I recognize most drivers aren't going to have a great experience here unless they come in with very low expectations and a very long-term outlook.
I still believe this will be the company I work for until retirement, but a big part of that is due to having dozens of drivers under me on the seniority list after only 4 years. That situation makes everything so much more bearable now that I don't have to worry about what scraps will be left for me at bidding time or being on the extraboard and not knowing if I was going to have to take a PM or AM run.ducnut, Gearjammin' Penguin, Mike2633 and 2 others Thank this. -

Where I work it is exactly that running on the fumes on their former legacy. There’s still a good amount of people from the good old days still around, but that is going to be changing in the next 5,10 and 15 years and probably it’s going to be the same as your place.Last edited: Feb 16, 2023

I was still peddling freight, when American Freightways came to town. They set a standard far above everyone else in the industry. I didn’t make the move, because they built their terminal ~50mi from where I lived. Both LTL outfits I consecutively worked for, later, closed up shop. Different times, for sure.Mike2633 Thanks this.

I am out of the Columbia SC terminal. Back in November we found out that Atlanta laid off 35 drivers and I was like "hah, sucks to be you guys". One week later, me and ten others got laid off at my terminal, and then I was like "hah, sucks to be me now ".
But then in January everyone including the dock casuals came back.Old_n_gray, Cardfan89 and Mike2633 Thank this. -
Are you on a daylight schedule now?
