I actually have a customer that wants my empty pallets cause he can't keep enough of them on hand. Should have saved him some.

The guy I was talking to exports way more freight than he imports, that's why he needed them.

    That's a good one.

I would have liked to. But here at All Garbage Freight All The Time, only the favorites are allowed to do that.

I'd have told him "sure. I'll take it. Right to the dumpster".:)

Customer called for a pickup. Asked if he can load all 50 something boxes directly into my trailer. Told him that it would be easier on everyone if he put them on pallets and shrinkwrapped them. He said he had nobody around to shrinkwrap them, but "hey, I am sure you (me) can do it."

Ummmm.... Riiiight. Not gonna happen. My job is to take your freight, not do your job. Call me back when you are ready to ship with us. People these days. I wonder how he got the job to be a "shipping manager".

On the flip side. Depends on the people. I would make a deal straight up "meet me in the middle". I'll help you put product on the skid, But you wrap it and move around some skids when i return in 45 minutes.

It really depends on the people. Only 1 account ( people ) i do help, Only because they are friends / former co-workers/ friends of friends.

Actually enjoy going to this account daily. It's a 2 way street, It's back and forth helping each other.

Like i mentioned, It's a 2 way street, Prove to me a few times going to help me, I'll return the favor 2x .It's so #### easy to get screwed.

Well, maybe he is the bosses brother in law, or maybe he was the only one around dumb enough to take the job. When I worked for KNIGHT, we used to pick up loads of Coke at the Total Warehouse, (a one time subsidiary of KNIGHT,) in Phoenix to go to Vegas or LA. The driver had to shrink wrap the pallets himself, and they did not have a turn table. I did it once. Found out they paid NOTHING for doing it, and refused to ever do it again. Shoot, I don't mind working, but I don't work for free. Not more than once anyhow.

I hear you on that don. I volunteered myself doing a roll off dumpster rotate on a construction site. Help loaded a dumpster too full capacity. The Foreman was very short handed. spent 90 minutes On the job. should of been a 15 minute rotate. I told dispatch at the time I gotten lost.
Was never paid for helping ( or so I thought ). 2 months goes by and doing the same rotate ( numerous other drivers done it since i was their )

That foreman remembered I helped and handed me $350 in cash. He told me ( my employer at the time ) gave him a $250 discount for me being late ( The foreman apologized for telling my employer I was late and wanted a discount ) Never again will I volunteer myself. They have to show their good faith a few times before I attempt to mingle around some timing and You better be on my "Bowling team/ Pool league " :biggrin_2551:

Foreman threw me under the bus, Don't care if he paid later. I bet he was expecting for me to never show back again.
