no called in as in "WTF am I doing tomorrow?"
the "system" is that you have to call in every day.
if you are a senior guy and have designated routes, you still have to call in to confirm that you are coming in.
it's an idiotic system.

4 day weekend, took the day after new years off
Shaggy Thanks this. -
At our shop everyone gets FT work. So it's not the question of if we are working, It's the question of okay where are we working ?
I understand your response as idiotic. This is local trucking after all. Would be nice to know tomorrows itinerary, But we are dealing with humans and humans take PTO's before their scheduled work time ( any excuse ). It's the world of local trucking, Nothing is certain for the next days activities lol -
and even if you are high on the totem pole, why a call? why not a check in? a web site? a freaking text or email? trying to call in with actual issues is impossible because it's busy. It's an idiotic system. There are a 1000 ways to do it better.
but hey, our motto is Eff you, I got mine.
BTW, I told some guys in the warehouse that yesterday and they about fell on the floor "holy crap you got that right"Shaggy Thanks this. -
Want to name the employer? If not, That's cool too. -
Friend of mind told me of a food place that was offering A 5k sign on bonus. Said could be a few nights out but whatever. I told him what foods all about as I see those guys deliver to small stores and touching every box running teams he changed his min
Happy new years all.Shaggy Thanks this. -
we deliver to chain restaurants in 48 footers. Our center delivers to 8 different restaurants (which is a lot, you have to know a LOT of product). half of them you wheel it in (more money, more work) the other half you just deliver it to their door on a pallet jack and they break it down (some fast, some slow, but less money).
But we have visiting drivers (because we're so short drivers, they come from other warehouses and make bank) and it's like they work for a totally different company. -
Anything you can do? Speak with the Warehouse manager or the person in charge of logistics?
That's BS, No wonder you are peed off. Nothing against those drivers, I would be in a management office having adult conversations and figuring out if they Need me or if i Need them. -
Can't wait to go to work tomorrow so I can OOS my truck again. Found a bolt sticking in my steer tire as I was leaving the yard. I already turned in my DVIR and clocked out, so I will just act surprised in the morning.
