pretty sure most food service is the last of the outlaw's. My favorite is when the magic elves unload the truck while you are on your 30 minute break.

ryder sucks so bad. Same BS here, totally declawed DD13's, fully grossed out at 80k, we're in the mountains. I'ts awful. I've actually had to go to low range to get up over some passes (pretty sure the truck was messed up, but still, i get passed by EVERYONE). And they still get mid 6's for mileage. Hell, I used to do that with a 03 running a hydraulic tail dropdeck that idled A TON.)

Wow our dd15 pull like crap haha so I cant even imagine the dd13s, our are the 455hp but i was told there cut all the way back to 375 or so. round trip from binghamton ny to nyc and back is roughly 400mi and we usually burn 55 gal or so sometimes more. 81, 380 and 80 have some very mean hills. 7th gear on most of them. my dads old e7 400 9 speed mack would run circles around these

You run straight 10s? if so what rears, our are 2.47, at 55mph were at just under 1100. i hardly use 10th i consider em 9 speeds haha. we have a few new autos with the detroit 12 speeds and they actually pull pretty good and they shift decently quick. if your in the lower gears and mash on it, she will jump from 4th to 7th. they have one mean jak on those. can almost come to a stop without touching brakes. overall our fleet of autos is averaging 6.8 while the 10 speeds are lucky to get low 5s. Bump that horsepower up to 500 and you'll get better fuel millage and do not set it to 1550 rpm 400 rpm drop between gears and your lugging it burning even more fuel.

what? have one set of specs for all the trucks? that's crazy talk.

All over the map. Some are running 1400 at 62, some are pulling 1100 at 62. (which is a total waste out here, you're instantly in 9th, who is spec'ing these? idiots)

The best ones are the Volvo automatic's. 12 speeds, so 12th is pulling 1100 or so, but it pops to 11th which is about 1400 at 62 almost on any hill, so best of both worlds. I've gotten almost 9 on the volvo auto's. (remember i'm at 5000 plus feet too on the flat parts and it's always windy one way or the other). Actually the volvo's can do a solid mid 7's and the freightliners (POS) of any spec barely pull mid to upper 6's. I'm sure we'll get more freightliners, since fuel milage is so important (idiots)

And yes, the one I had turned up to 65. (boss approved it and it took the guy like two seconds). THEN it was doing 1480 at 65 and you could pull the whole hill in 10th or bigger mountains one or two gears up. Same exact load, (this is the trailer that blew up adn took the whole load with it a few weeks ago) and I got better mileage, because I could hold a higher gear. DUH.

oh and cowboy you wanna talk about outlaw companies. I do 3 nyc runs a week usually average 24-25 hr a run w/co-driver
yep all our trucks spec'd the same in terms of rear end ratio of 2.47 and were limited to 62. If i remember right 10th at 62 is something like 1250 i know for sure its under 1300.

Yea i love how the truck magically unloads its self on 30min break. We can be running 3 hrs over our 14 and wont even get a call from dispatch. stupid they should just let us run paper

it's amazing the things you can accomplish in exactly 14 hours when you're in a truck with no elogs. Just amazing. :p

Interline means that the consignee is outside of your network. And you have to turn the freight over to either another LTL carrier, or a smaller third party carrier. They in turn take a small cut for moving it on the final leg. On average, we turn over 5-8% of our freight over to these guys cause the consignee is so remote that it would be unpractical for us to go out there.

Yeah, we totally don't do that. We have purchase transportation on the linehaul side, but AFAIK we do everything on the P&D side. Which leads to some very interesting situations...

Ohio State Highway Patrol is upping enforcement of the seat belt law this month or week or something they say it's all about safety.
