I got the worst customer... He has a clothing shop but also has some skilled seamstresses on the side to create "replica Levi's jeans". Basically they fabricate jeans and then add an official Levi's logo, then he sells them out west for a hefty profit.

Yes, he is a scumbag and all the other carriers caught on and refused to do business with him because of it. For some reason our moron sales guy is so desperate for sales accounts that he continues to deal with him.

But that is not even my gripe. He does not have a loading dock or doors wide enough, so all his freight has to be palletized on the side of his building. I usually call him at least 2 hours in advance so his workers can get their crap together. Regardless how early ahead I call he is never ready ....hell, he never even gets started until I show up.

On top of that, after I sign the BoL, he will randomly try to cross out the # of boxes shipped to a much higher count. Another driver told me he does that so that he can file a claim against our carrier that we lost some boxes.

Such BS. If I am completely swamped, I am usually lucky enough to have my dispatcher "no freight" the customer. If not, I have to sit on the side of the building for up to an hour waiting for them to put the freight together.

God I am soooo PISSED. Yesterday I picked up from him, he had 56 boxes but no pallets. He said he wanted to load each individual box and have ME palletize it for him when I got back to the terminal. Are you ******* kidding me?!?!

Is your company aware of this?
I'd like to know how you handled this? Where I worked, we could always call our supervisor, (also dispatcher,) and with something like this, he would just tell us to decline the load.

I had one of my regular pickup customers tell me today that their customer getting today's pickup wanted their pallets loaded sideways "to keep the used floorspace under the 20' mark".

I've never heard of such stupidity. The only reason I can fathom for this is to get the freight into a lower class, and that's fine. But why risk damage to the product handling the pallets from the side when that won't change how the shipment is billed?

I'd love to see what they would have said had I showed up with a 96" trailer instead of a 102".

Turns out they wouldn't fit that way anyway. Since it's a slick side trailer with e-tracks, the e-tracks take up the 1" inch of space you'd have left over between two turned pallets.

Yes, they are fully aware of it. but they just turn a blind eye cause they need the account for some stupid reason.

How did I react when he told me to palletize it for him? I told him "hell no I wasn't doing it". I asked my dispatcher if he wante me to hang out or leave. Of course I was told to wait until they found some pallets. Oh well, another hour of OT. Shut up and color is what they tell me.

So stop 2 today (regular stop for me) lost their key to the back door. It's a 24 hour fast food place. Seriously? Do I look like sysco to come in the front door.

Then I find out this afternoon that someone dropped yet another trailer at the yard. That's 3 since I started 9 months ago. It's not like it's icy. Look!!!!

    3!!!!!!

Dropped as in "didn't actually hook the pin and clearly didn't do a tug test or visually check to see if it was hooked up and then pulled out"

one of them earlier got all the way to the street.

got a picture from the trans clerk, see if i can post it later today.

THIRD TIME IN 9 MONTHS AT THE SAME TERMINAL

That's called a soft hook. You can maneuver the truck/trailer around for quite a way before the actual trailer drops. When I hook, I usually drag my front (or middle/back) trailer at least five feet to ensure it is hooked.

When I am away from the truck for more than 15 minutes, I back against it with the trailer brake set, then do a quick tug test as well. You never know what #######es will try to pull your fifth wheel handle
