    Oh, wonderful.

I just pulled up in front of a place with several dock doors open, and a pickup truck just went into the only one I can get to.

Today I saw a Central Transport 48' piker pulling an empty tandem axle piker converter dolly behind it's trailer going down I-480 which is a non toll road. I had to do a double take, because I don't believe that is a legal combination on a non-toll road.

I've been getting absolutely clobbered with more pickups than I can handle lately. Missed two yesterday, I had to sacrifice a 6 skid delivery to get those today, which nearly filled the trailer, and the three pickups I missed today wouldn't have fit anyway.

The other day I had to deliver donation load at this place... a food bank in a small business area...

When I started backing, a man came and started "praising" me... taking pictures of the truck... took a picture of me, even though I told him not to... I asked him to stop cause that was making me nervous as I was trying to back... :biggrin_2552:
And after that, all went wrong... It wasn't a good backing day for me... :biggrin_25513: I thought it wouldn't be hard... There were two docks inside that gate... Had to start backing straight and then cut it hard to enter the gate and avoid hitting the concrete wall on one side and the yellow pole and gate on the other... I tried with tandems all the way up.. then all the way to the rear... The view in front of the docks shows there wasn't much room...

It took me 40 freakin mins to put trailer at the dock... and I was still all crooked... Folks said that was good enough... they were tired of waiting and there were other trucks coming after me...
They said most drivers have difficulty with those docks... Maybe so... but the driver after me took less than 5 mins to back to the same dock.... and he wasn't crooked... :biggrin_2552: I felt like a rookie... :biggrin_25523:

Rocks, haven't heard from you in a while how was vacation?

Well, I've been there too, there's a stop we do down town there have been times where I have got it in the dock okay and other times where it's taken me way way way to long. It happens it's just how it goes.

Heck I screwed up a stop on Monday pretty good so stuff happens to everyone it's hard to get a no-hitter all the time. Why do you think every time a baseball pitcher gets a no-hitter it's on the news? The reason is because it doesn't happen to often. Ive also found usually first time and this isn't stead fast 100% rule, but usually the first time you go somewhere it always takes a little longer then the second time as far as backing goes, there's a learning curve to backing into places, at least that's been my experience.

I could see someone having serious issues there, even more so if there were a truck on your right side.

That looks like a PITA dock to get into with a long trailer. I could not imagine having some random guy show up distracting you the whole way.

I've had similar issues in the past where everyone came out to watch, some even darting in and out behind my trailer as I was backing in. I ended up putting everything in park and asking the person in charge to clear the area since the distractions were turning into a safety issue.

As a matter of fact there was a small straight truck parked to my left...

Then another one came and blocked my front... after I was inside the docking area but still trying to get straight with one of the docks... :biggrin_25510:
And.. of course, there were other smaller box trucks like USPS and pick up trucks coming and going all the time... :biggrin_2552:

My company belongs to a charitable organization (undisclosed name). We go to places like that.. We deliver loads at food banks, ministries, schools, churches, most are in residential areas, offices in business areas, busy areas... And it is not uncommon to have folks coming out to take pictures of the truck... and I guess because I am a tiny petite lady, some folks like to take pictures of me... what makes me REALLY uncomfortable and even more nervous... :biggrin_2552:
