My company doesn't like it either, but I'll do it anyway if it's a place I go to frequently.

My company probably isn't to hot for it, and it doesn't come up really, but I'm sure there have been guys somewhere that have done it.

One of the good things about living in Utah is that folks are far more interested in getting the job done, than they are in getting into a pissing contest over a driver using a piece of equipment!

I haven't been told not to. I've used wheel loaders, Bobcats, and fork lifts to unload. Because the recvr said to go ahead. Unless I have permission, I probably wont do it.

I like when they give me pickups a half mile away from where another driver is finishing up.

Does anyone else think that is a special kind of stupid?

Gonna derail this thread one more time...

So we all know we have to be on our toes when it comes to picking up HazMat. Even if you don't placard this crap, you are careful about allowing it to be forked on your trailer.

This company called in an all HazMat pickup. I swung by and their BOL had a massive X on their HM column.

Item Description "various"... Class "NA" UN "NA" Packaging Group "NA"

Just a bunch of blank spaces on the BOL. I asked the shipping manager about it and he said "load her up if you got the space"

I was like: OH FUDGE NO... NO FUDGING WAY BRO!!!

Then their general manager got involved. He obviously had a gold plated coasters on his fat office chair and let out a huge chuckle. "Well if YRC doesn't want our business, then we will give it to FedEx Freight... and guess what @road_runner... they just pulled in"

I can't even make this crap up...

He ripped up my BOL infront of my face and said FxF will get this load.

The lard arse printed out a new BOL with FxF as the carrier and gave it to my counterpart as he walked in....

FxF: Sorry bro... You got hazmat.. check your columns and fill out the empty spaces... Maybe YRC will take it.... I gotta bounce.

Heads up you Jackhole... you just wasted 15 min of my company time.. you will be charged for a "no freight" pickup. next time have your crap together.

When I worked for FedEx Freight, we were authorized, as long as we had the customer's permission, to use their forklift. I had a few customers that appreciated it, others that weren't so sure but I convinced them, and still others that flat out said "no" due to insurance restrictions.
