I'll unload using customer's equipment anywhere they allow me to do so, and it speeds my unload (in some cases it does not help me go faster). It seems that most places I go, I am more proficient with the equipment than the individuals working the dock anyway.

    And, @road_runner, that's priceless! DENIED :)

I wish we would charge for "no freight pickups", with all the wild goose chases I get.

Tell me about wild goose chases I'm trying to get a car shipped to me from CA these auto transport company brokers are a bunch of rectums after this go around I'm paying a premium and using @KANSAS TRANSIT for all my auto shipping needs, because I need someone who will do it right.

I don't understand how these places can be so sloppy and disorganized.

So I got called in to do a pickup from the same location that doesn't know how to ship hazmat.

The guy was like:. So you are gonna get these three crates here.... We are not gonna ship the hazmat anymore.

    "Oh?"

Yeah, so the problem we have is nobody that works here actually knows how to properly prepare a hazmat BoL. The reason for that is nobody here is certified to ship hazmat. It's a massive legal headache, so everyone here doesn't want to do it. Initially we were gonna strip all the hazmat markings off the boxes, and try to sneak it to Seattle that way, but we were scared someone would run a forklift tine through it and cause some kind of spill.

I can not believe how honest this guy was to me. I was somewhat dumbfounded.

Funny how that works. Some places require you to use their forklifts regardless what your company policy is... Then you got other places that will throw a spit-fit if you even touch their dock plates or try to operate their overhead doors.

I got this old coworker that's been working for us for well over 25 years. He is known to commandeer people's forklift regardless what policy says what. His response "I don't care what your policy is, you are taking too flippin long and I got 30 more bills to run. Here is your copy of your DR and here is the number to my dispatcher if you have any more questions. I don't have the time to argue with you.".

This dude never has gotten in trouble over it.

I would be wary of those "unhazmat" boxes.

I don't even care what the law says about it... It is more of a ethical issue to me. Imagine if someone got severe burns or lost his sight because someone didn't want to do the right thing. Kinda pisses me off looking back at what he said to me.

If the crates are unmarked and there's no hazmat info on the BOL, then by law it's not @road_runner's problem.

If anything happens, it is the shipper that is liable for that fine.

They may very well have stripped the markings off the boxes since they're too stupid to do it the right way.

That is a huge gamble for them though.

I'm noticing the Lumber Liquidators is getting to be quite a problem in this respect. I went there 3 times 3 days in a row to get one shipment. On the 3rd day, I called them before I went to make sure it was actually real.

    Mike2633 Thanks this.
