I'll unload using customer's equipment anywhere they allow me to do so, and it speeds my unload (in some cases it does not help me go faster). It seems that most places I go, I am more proficient with the equipment than the individuals working the dock anyway.
And, @road_runner, that's priceless! DENIED![]()

I wish we would charge for "no freight pickups", with all the wild goose chases I get.
Gearjammin' Penguin, texasbbqbest and Mike2633 Thank this. -
I don't understand how these places can be so sloppy and disorganized. -
So I got called in to do a pickup from the same location that doesn't know how to ship hazmat.
The guy was like:. So you are gonna get these three crates here.... We are not gonna ship the hazmat anymore.
"Oh?"
Yeah, so the problem we have is nobody that works here actually knows how to properly prepare a hazmat BoL. The reason for that is nobody here is certified to ship hazmat. It's a massive legal headache, so everyone here doesn't want to do it. Initially we were gonna strip all the hazmat markings off the boxes, and try to sneak it to Seattle that way, but we were scared someone would run a forklift tine through it and cause some kind of spill.
I can not believe how honest this guy was to me. I was somewhat dumbfounded.texasbbqbest and Mike2633 Thank this. -
I got this old coworker that's been working for us for well over 25 years. He is known to commandeer people's forklift regardless what policy says what. His response "I don't care what your policy is, you are taking too flippin long and I got 30 more bills to run. Here is your copy of your DR and here is the number to my dispatcher if you have any more questions. I don't have the time to argue with you.".
This dude never has gotten in trouble over it.Gearjammin' Penguin, Big Don, JReding and 3 others Thank this. -
I would be wary of those "unhazmat" boxes.

Gearjammin' Penguin, texasbbqbest, misterG and 2 others Thank this.

If anything happens, it is the shipper that is liable for that fine.misterG and road_runner Thank this. -
That is a huge gamble for them though.Big Don Thanks this. -
Mike2633 Thanks this.
