An outlying terminal here works the same, I think the same company. The driver/TM was covertly hostile toward me when I stopped by (probably wasn't sure who I was, I tend to dress a bit higher than the job).

We were alone on the dock mid-morning. We aren't the same color, which around here is usual, I didn't think about it until later. He told me that the two positions were no longer open. Yet they were still on the website for long after and my apps went through with responses.

Months later I got an email from HR that the positions were no longer available to be filled. Guess it took some time to get his buddies ironed out.

Greatly appreciate that you're taking time to share the issues. Helps.

So apparently, Don, the whole company works that way. Typical sign of dying when the management no longer has a hold on things.

My week just got longer. I80 west bound is closed in Wyoming Laramie to Evanston. Wyodot says weather but it's 32 with light snow. Roads were only wet. Well looks like I'll be burning up some data on my IPad.

Even worse when that situation is their own fault and either don't even know it, or choose to deny it.

Ended up bringing an entire trailer load of freight back. Morning dock crew loaded me out on a trailer with a jammed rollup door.

Mechanic couldn't even get the door open without a forklift. Spent two hours down getting it repaired so I could at least do some pickups on that trailer.

When I die, I want the morning dock crew to lower my casket. That way they can let me down one last time.

You sure do have a way with words! @road_runner
I hated those roll up doors when they jam!

I had a day almost that bad, so you're not alone.

Left an hour late to get to an early appointment at the furthest point of my territory, and about halfway there I was sent a 3 skid pickup from down that way. I knew at that point the day was already shot. That wound up being stop 3 after unloading 5 skids at 2 deliveries before that.

Next, I had a COD for a beauty store that wanted certified funds. Fortunately, the shipper would accept money orders, but the machine conked out so they had to get tech support involved from the money order service. That was to say the least, interesting, if anything due to the language barrier. That deal cost me another hour.

I get two more deliveries off and another 1 skid pickup on, and by then it's too late for the 2 skids going to the county jail, so now I have 6 skids of freight to work around, with only 4 skid spots open.

The final nail in that coffin was the next delivery getting refused because they weren't called to make an appointment, despite it being written all over the bill. :rolleyes.

I got the next one off because it was on the other side of the trailer. That freed up two more skid spots, but it wasn't enough room to dig out the last 3 deliveries. At that point I gave up, and took the rest to the interline carrier. My travel agent preferred that to having 5 returns.

I prefer to have my oversized pallets in the very nose just in case something goes FUBAR and cant get rid of the freakin thing... regardless if I go way out of route. Unless of course it's something you cant move with a jack and is going to someone that is reliable.

Too many times did I have to go: "Yes sir, the residential just told me over the phone that him and his family are out skiing.... Nope, they wont let me dead drop the hot tub in their driveway... No, there is no way to work my remaining 12 stops around it... No, I already talked to NPT if we can borrow their dock to hold it... Nope, I AM serious".

GFS got rid of all there roll doors long ago (although I think I think there maybe a roll door or two left in Florida, but by in large our roll doors are all gone. Personally, I like roll doors and sometimes it would be nice if we had them, but the swinging doors aren't that much of an inconvenience.

I've got a long day tomorrow, it's a lot of cross town beat down back and fourth. Other then that, the week hasn't been to shabby.
