That's complete bullcrap. Not only is it crap to work around, you are still stuck with 7.5k of weight to tug along no matter what. That receiver is a jackhole. I hope the shipper closes that account. When it is that heavy, LTL freight charges go up for three pallets.

Happened to me last Fall. Some stupid lady ordered two skids of tile for her residential. Each weighed 2k and I had to lift gate them down and push them uphill on her driveway into her garage. When I got the second one in and gave her a clipboard to sign the DR she refused the load.

"Nah, I don't want them anymore."

    Ummm what?

"I just wanted to watch you unload them. Tell your dispatcher I don't like the colour and that is why I am refusing them."

Was it specifically inside delivery? aren't you only required to get it on their driveway? I mean don't get me wrong. Out of common courtesy I always try to get it in their garage for them. But 2500 pounds up hill, if it doesn't say inside delivery. Might make me second guess courtesy haha. I would of probably done it though if it was a smooth driveway. Rock driveways or cement driveways with bumps suck a%%.

    need opinions.

    I work linehaul nights. (FXG).

"assigned truck". All my crap is in my truck. Big advantage of assigned trucks not having to haul all that crap in and out. Including actual cleaning supplies, since it's the truck that i'm "living" in. Bedding, clothes, just in case or for an overnight.

Get a text from my boss (the contractor), oh we sent your truck out with so and so to do an extra run for FXG. (not a breakdown, not an emergency, nobody sick just FXG needed coverage), he won't be back in time for your shift to start, take a different truck.

Well a truck is a truck, I don't really care, but all my stuff is in "my" truck. headset, GPS, etc, etc, etc.

If you want me to slip seat, that's fine too, but a. it's going to cost you more, cuz it's a PITA and b. all that bedding and clothes and such goes away, i get stuck out overnight, you're buying me a hotel. (and c. I guess i can stop worrying about keeping the truck clean)

    Should I be unhappy?

Assigned truck? What is that? Seriously though, I wouldn't worry about it unless it starts happening a lot. Sucks to not have all your goodies for a day though.

I recently "assigned" myself a truck. It has a bad rep with the drivers for breakdowns and multiple minor problems like a malfunctioning Peoplenet unit etc. Instead of writing it up and getting things fixed everyone just avoids it. I've been working with the shop to set things right, so for the last month it's been a good running, hard working truck and no one knows it but me. Sweet. I just park it near the dead line when I finish my shift, and there she sits when I come back in. Everyone just assumes it's down, so there she sits when I come back in. I still pack my stuff in and out every day, but I figure I've got another month before anyone catches on.

@Naptown You just made me grateful I share an assigned truck with a city driver who has the same standards as I do regarding cleaning and maintenance issues.

Many guys assign them selves a truck. Have been told if a truck has stuff in it , it is assigned , do not use.. They are taking maintaining the signs for the assigning signs. Five guys got wrote up here doing this.

It's not just the kids doing this! I see so called "adults" doing it all the time!

I guess your best defense would be, "she just needed killing!"

What do you think being unhappy is going to do for you. It's trucking, crap happens. Just keep it in the back of your mind that anything you leave in your truck should be something that won't cost a lot to replace, if it disappears.
But the trucks are owned by the company, no matter how you feel about it.

Yeah, we've got guys doing that too, and with the 18's coming in everything is all shuffled about anyway while they get put in service. I'm not doing anything blatant, just counting on the truck's bad reputation as a turd to keep it a secret. I've got a day shift extra board driver that I let in the know, and mostly we pass it back and forth when our days overlap.
