OT? Now just WHAT is that. This industry is "exempt from certain labor laws, including overtime." In other words, nobody is gonna force us to pay it, so we will not pay it. But you will work it.:confused:o_O

    Fixed it for ya Mike!:D

Not all, though. Dayton Freight pays it after 40. Not many non-union companies pay pay proper OT, but Dayton is one of them.

    Buckeye91 and Mike2633 Thank this.

ok, you'll get a chuckle out of this one.

Grab two trailers, supposed to drop the tail about 15 miles away at one facility, then take the lead about 130 miles south, then come back with empty. (pretty common).

Get hooked, WAIT 30 MINUTES to get checked out of the yard (for a 15 mile drive, grrrrrrrrrrr), drop the tail and think "pffft, i'm not carrying the dolly, dropping the dolly, hooking an empty, hooking the dolly and then doing it again at my 3rd stop. I'll drop the dolly here and pick up another dolly at my 3rd stop (where I"ll certainly get loaded trailers). " dump dolly in the yard, drive 130 miles with a single trailer.

Get to my stop, drop my loaded, hook my empty and dial up the little automated voice thing that dispatches you (when no one is around).
"Enter the number of your trailer."
    123456
"Enter the number of your 2nd trailer."

what????????? wait? ahhhhhhhhhhhh crap, look at the paperwork again.
Yep, supposed to bring back TWO empties.

I"m already hooked, so I manually (by hand) grab another dolly, roll it halfway across the lot and get it set behind my tail and get hooked up in a set.

    READ THE PAPERWORK.

They made me sit 90 minutes this morning to try and stuff 10 skids into 8 skid spots worth of room. This meant breaking down 2 of them which took up yet more time.

I finally leave, and wind up getting to my first stop just in time for them to say "we're going to lunch. Come back at 12:30." Lost another 2 1/4 hours just at that place.

so i come back for my final set and i'm hooking up the tail and there's this guy trying to get hooked to his lead. (I mean that's put the tractor under a trailer, drop and hook, easy peasy) he was there when I left with my previous set (an hour ago). he has a yard guy come over and pick it up so he can lower it. he pushes under it and goes way too far. I'm thinking WTF? and it doesn't hook. he pulls back forward.

i walk over and look and realize what is wrong. I say "you're 5th wheel is all the way forward, needs to be all the way back, go hook to a 53' over there and pull it back". clearly he hit the wrong button when dropped his previous trailer (cuz he came in with a set) and released the 5th wheel instead of the air bags and when he went to push under it just pushed forward. AN HOUR he'd been there, couldn't figure that out. And no one would help him.
