Yeah, but this makes too much sense. Besides, it costs the company a nickle. They'd much rather work a sick driver to death, than to part with a penny.

Temp drivers are always fun. We had one that was supposed to deliver a trailer load to an interline carriers. He instead started making the deliveries himself. Went 80 miles out of route for the first one, then 55 miles for the next one. His third bill gave a town 130 miles from where he was. That is when he knew something was wrong.
My dispatcher probably needed a paper bag to hyperventilate into after he got the call from the driver that was ready to cross into another state. -

Driver health is no small matter. Last year I found two lumps, in shall we say a sensitive area. My dispatcher gave me a short route, in the town where my Dr. is.
And told me to take all the time I needed.
Thankfully it turned out to be nothing. -
i am sorry but
ALL CUSTOMERS SHOULD DIE:
1) Based on my observations/experiences, a certain gender tends to not want to touch boxes----because they feel 'it's not for them." Even though IT'S THEIR STUFF. And some boxes are quite light.
a) This same gender also tends to feel that talking and sharing pictures on the phone is much more important than attending to the door, though which a driver, who may be standing in 90 degree weather, is waiting to enter----to deliver their stuff.
2) i am officially opposed to the wall that president Trump is proposing because, ironically enough, the one group he wants to keep out is not only NOT afraid to handle boxes, they seem very enthusiastic to do so.
i am finished with all customers, i wish their imminent demise, and i wish to switch to drop and hook truckload where i don't come into contact with anyone. The Shadow, misterG, LoneCowboy and 2 others Thank this. -
Several years ago out of our Billings barn, some lead driver lost his son in a car wreck. The guy called in and told the TM what happened. The TM response? "Oh...so he is dead right? And if he is dead, there is nothing you can do about it at this point and you might as well come to work and do your job". -

Hardest thing I have to deal with is pulling into a rest area for a whiz and not finding a parking spot.MACK E-6 and Bob Dobalina Thank this. -
I run LTL, mostly 4 stops, maybe up to 6 or 7 then back empty 99% of the time. I have a few customers that like to b!tch and moan about accepting the load. Fortunately, I have a shipper I haul for that says "bring it back, I will call your next stops and have them work around it".
So I love the look on the receiver's face when they say "I don't want this today!" My response is "just sign here that you are refusing the shipment, and I'm gone. I get paid regardless, and you will pay shipping twice." Then it's "oh wait, hold on, give me a sec, I will get it."
I enjoy the interaction with different customers and going to new places, looking inside their facilities, seeing the products they make. You can learn a lot. That being said, I won't take any lip from anyone and don't care about getting fired over anything. My friend put it best when he said "I was looking for a job when I found this one."
