Weekend linehaul was the shiznit. Started Friday night at 8 PM, then did a turn. Usually back by 5-6 AM. Then Saturday I would start on my ten. I had some off the logbook prehook going on so all I had to do was turn and burn when I came in. 3- 4:30 PM out the gate and I could be back as early as 9 PM. After that, the rest of Saturday was mine. My assigned days off were Sundays and Mondays. So I had a very long weekend most months.

Top it off, I was making $1,000 more a month than I do now with only a fraction of the effort and frustration. Miss those linehaul days.

JFC... Another driver is looking at throwing in the towel. If he leaves, we will be down to two drivers. We are staffed to have seven, but right now we have four with one leaving for sure.

Anyone else had this happen? What happens to a terminal when you are only 25% staffed? Do you start turning down freight or do you shut that place down?

I am blaming this on McManagement. We are gonna end up like that French Foreign Legion where our entire staffing are drivers from foreign terminals.

Are you seeing the pattern here, bro?

By the way, we do have a center in your area. If that doesn't pan out, this is a free country, and you are allowed to move elsewhere...

I applied with them. Offered me the shortest linehaul position in the state. Belgrade to Butte... 6 hours of dock. So $200 a night which is what I am making working days. I had to turn it down.

Gonna end this night on a positive note. Someone mailed me in a FxF pro sticker for my collection. I really appreciate it. Not gonna call out the name on the return address. But it looks like @Gearjammin' Penguin

    Thanks a bunch!!!

So, this one mini-hub I always get stuck at is laid out wrong. The lot slopes north to south, so of course the lines (parking spots for trailers) are north south. As you all know it's darn near impossible to move a dolly uphill by hand. So I always drop my trailers east west in front of the empties, grab my dolly and go get my loaded. Easier, simpler and much safer. That's what yard switchers are for.

So, i get notified last night that i'm not to do that anymore, it's hard on the switchers (oh cry me a river).

I asked if I keep doing that, will I get banned and not have to come back? (this is really my plan after all, it's a pain place to go to). Dispatcher thinks I"m kidding. (i'm not)

So, fine, brought some empties back. You think it was hard to pick them up on level ground in a row and put them in door? You just wait. jerkhole mode activated.

managed to take up 4 spots with 2 pup trailers. You think it was hard before, mr lazy yard switchers? you just wait. I'm just getting started.

I could get it in the lines of course, but what fun is that?

Nights are hilarious, I totally see how cops get drunk people, it's not hard to tell. I'm puttering down I-25 in downtown, i see this car on the other side just FLYING, I mean blowing past everyone like they are standing still. hmmmmmmmmmm (it's like 3am).
About 5 seconds later I see the cop car, lights a blazing just flying.

I'm thinking that i know who that cop was after.

My day went from good to flushed down the ####ter. Had one delivery left. Got text from terminal come back got one more for you. Get back and they give me a food warehouse delivery and another one they pulled off another truck. Then they put two pickups on my tablet. My stops are on three sides of town and some close real soon. Gonna get interesting.

You can always learn how to back a con when attached to your lead trailer. It's not the easiest thing to learn. But you wanna get everything as straight as possible and at a slight angle so you can see your con out the drivers side mirror/window. Then the biggest rule is that you crank your steering wheel in the direction you want your con to go. Go slow and make minor adjustments as you start going backwards.

Jackhole customer is giving me the run-around. Finally had enough and told him I'd be back later. I worked around his crap and now I am camped out two blocks away. I am waiting for him to shut down the store at 6 PM and make my epic return 10 minutes before. I'll give him the old "your boss is going to get hit with a $120 redelivery fee if you don't take it today."

Way to start a Friday night. Maybe next time he will just take his crap. It's only two skids and he has a forklift.
