Rice Ridge Fire. It's somewhere between 10-11k acres with 10% contained.

Not to beat a dead horse. I'll just run it over with my busted down freightshaker.

Had to stop to get a shock tightened up Wed. morning. Turned into a new tire too. Before the mechanic admitted that unless we actually make them do these things. They only do the barest of minimum oil changes regardless of how long the list of things that are wrong with the truck is.
Boss only does the minimum, period.
Until he gets a ticket for it from the DOT. Then its the drivers fault for not writing it up on the pre-trip, never mind that he doesn't even look at the DVIR's.

This is also why one of our forktrucks overheats every day, has no brakes and barely runs to begin with. While our other forktruck just lost a tierod end, letting that steer tire pivot and stopping the truck in its tracks.

Had a douchebag operations supervisor several years back. His whole thing was if the vehicle could still physically propel itself forward it was in service. Glad we got rid of him.

I stopped caring about the freight, and more about my license. If something is wrong, get it fixed. Not risking my license cause our company can't get their #### together and take care of their equipment.

I had the same problem. Every day I write up defects on the liftgate trailer on the tablet, but nothing gets done. We do not have a shop, we use a vendor down the street. The head maintenance guy in another state is supposed to review the reports on his computer but he obviously wasn't. Corporate clowns told us to let our TM know if there is a problem so he can make arrangements to get it fixed down the street. He was too busy sleeping and leaving work before 1500 to do #### about repairs. For me it is simple-safety issues I tell them get me another truck or trailer or I am not leaving the yard. Non-essential non-safety stuff I just write up to cover my ###. If freight gets water damage due to a hole in the roof I write up for months on end not my problem,I wrote it up on your ####ing tablet, have fun paying that claim.

We have the forklift service company at our place at least once a month-dockworkers tear those things up. They gun it at full speed in reverse out the trailer onto the dock then immediately shift from R into D without stopping and going through neutral first. Then they stab the freight with the forks or smash it with the pallet they load behind it.

    Hole in the roof?

That's always nice when the law sees 4.3 placards on your trailer.

I wonder how many drivers' departures this jerk may have expedited because they wouldn't leave the yard with hazmat on board and blown tires?

man, all trucking companies are the same.

same BS, different company name on the door.

The only thing we can do is "nope" right on the heck out of there.

    Nope, not leaving
    nope, not driving
nope, see ya later, going home.

    but but but, the freight.....................

    F off

I will admit that the current place is pretty solid. I tell the boss, the tractor (which is still pretty new) gets fixed, even maintenance ahead of time.
They wont' even let you leave the yard if the basics aren't' there on both truck and trailer (lights, tires, ABS cycle, get inspected at the gate) and if you need something fixed on the trailer, the shop is right there.

too bad most everything else i grumping me out.
