Random LTL Rants (all are welcomed)

So, remember the other day when they sent me to drop an empty trailer and nobody knew which door to leave it at (out of 32 numbered doors) and I just guessed and took the easiest one?

Must have been right, i asked about it and the night dispatcher said he never heard word 1 about it, not even an email.

what are the odds? I was just lazy and picked the easiest one.

 

I wish my dispatcher did that.
She has it all in her' head. She's really pretty good too. BUT, there are always stops that get misplaced and she then has a hissy about us not doing it in HER order of delivery.

I REALLY wish the owner would sit her down and tell her that she's going to get a new computer and she WILL use it.
Becasue right now, she prints certain trips before others. And it always clogs up the dock, waiting for our second line driver to return with certain stops she demands we wait for, so they can possibly get delivered that day.

 

I try to do the same thing, depending on time of day. Because of some stops being closed for extended lunch times. Which I wouldn't know about if I didn't do the route every day. Which is very UNcommon at our shop. My dispatcher demands that we all do a different route every day, based on her whim.
And she and the owner can't understand then, why freight comes back and our pay rate is so high. Because the drivers are always doing different routes, and don't know anything about the route.

 

For some reason the great wonderful computer routing program routes the deliveries in the most out of order way possible. It has me zig zagging going from one area out to the other side of town and then back to the area I just came from. And on top of this the dock crew for some reason loads the trailers in the wrong order. I gave up and said #### it, I deliver in the order the freight is loaded in the trailer. I used to care and go above and beyond but ####ty management have cured me of that by taking me for granted.

 

What system do you use?

 

I don't know. All I know is our new manager told us he uses a routing program to route our deliveries. It ####ing sucks balls. A driver told him his trailer was loaded differently from the manifest. His reply was "that's what a pallet jack is for"! Yeah,ok,#### you I am not working harder cuz you can't route properly I deliver in the order the freight is sitting in the trailer.

 

Ask if its called fleetwise. If yes, i can direct him to resources. That system is good, but if its not set up properly, its #########
