Yeah... Not for me. I moan and groan if I even have to do an inside delivery on 400 lbs of hotel supplies.

I don't know how you food guys do that job without going cray-cray. 0100 start times, schlepping heavy ### food on hand trucks, dealing with arrogant ####### chefs and kitchen staff who no habla, and I am sure you guys do more CODs than us LTL freaks. I would wind up getting fired from your job after telling some high and mighty zagat rated michelin star recipient chef where he can shove his veggies and chickens for maximum rectal satisfaction.

Yep-or the 3 skids of wooden file cabinets and desk pieces that have to go to the end of the third floor of some blood sucker's (lawyer) office.

400 lbs at a hotel? That's light LOL our hotel deliveries vary between 1200-10,000lbs. I remember one time and it took me like 3 hours I had 10,000lbs to unload at a big hotel down town they took half the trailer.

It doesn't count if you roll the whole skid through the door. :laughing6:

Sitting on the riverbank last night with my two boys at our favorite secret honeyhole. I've got my feet propped up on the beer cooler, one in hand. It has almost transitioned from dusk to full dark, and hungry catfish are just starting to come out and play.

The tip of my number two rod twitches just a bit, barely tinkling the bell. The screen on my phone lights up in my pocket the way it does just before it rings. The rod twitches a little more. The fish has the bait in its mouth. My phone rings and an electronic voice announces the caller is linehaul dispatch. The rod tip bends down and stays that way. My fish has turned and started to run. I can either set the hook and have tomorrow night's dinner on the line, or I can answer the call and find out what work wants.

Anyone want to guess which way I chose?

I split the difference. Landed a nice 5 lb. flathead then listened to my voicemail. He was just calling to see if I could cover a schedule today, so I called him back and said yes.

Now if he had been calling me in on my day off, I would just say the magic words "I'm 4 beers into a 12 pack." I'm nobody's hero except my own.

I'd say they have a hell of a lot of nerve calling someone while they're out fishing.
