Speaking of dropping trailers. This one happened last week to my most favorite carrier. I was coming down a highway and this guy (who's company I won't mention) pulls out infront of me to make his left turn. I am doing about 63 mph and he pulls this stunt where I am less than 250 yards out. I had to lock up my brakes and everything. This guy is fully loaded and took him a good while to get up to speed. Looking back at it I should have taken the shoulder and passed him.
Anyway, back to my story. He ended up going to my drop lot. I followed him in because not only did I need to swap trailers, but the past 6 miles gave me enough time to decide that I wanted to have a few words with this dude who almost wrecked both of us.
He makes his way into the lot, curved slightly to the left and all of a sudden his trailer just falls off. Not only did it fall off, after the king pin cleared the fifth wheel, the trailer slipped completely sideways and the driver side of his trailer landed on top of his passenger side drive tires (see pic 2)
Why did it do that you wonder? He was on a bad spot of the lot. There is a sewage drain right were he dropped his trailer. The slope of the pavement angles fairly sharp downward in that one spot and his truck and trailer would have been leaning fairly heavily to the right. As soon as he disconnected, his trailer followed gravity and slide sideways.
Wow. Lucky he dumped it there and not on the interstate. He kinda put on a show for the rest of us. Most were baffled on how he did that.

So I figured out the Turnpike has a circadian rhythm. While I've been making my over night run, I've seen that the turnpike has a life cycle. It's actually pretty empty between 12am-6am.
Around 7am it starts to wake up a little. But at night out east Youngstown, Ohio area I pretty much have the turnpike almost to my self.G13Tomcat Thanks this.
