Random LTL Rants (all are welcomed)

Went to Cleveland last night, which is a 640 mi. rd trip gate to gate. Since I left Cle with empties, central dispatch decided to via me through the Columbus terminal. They do that a lot on the assumption that even if there are no loads, there might be by the time a driver gets there. I know that trick, so I called the terminal to see if they would have anything.

I'm already pushing the clock, and with the construction on 70, I anticipate having ones of minutes left at the end of the day. I can't really afford to lose a single second. Columbus says they'll see what they have when I get there. Empties in, empties out. Out into morning traffic. I hit a huge backup on the West side. Almost an hour to go 5 miles. I never found out the cause. But I'm laying over in some crusty hotel instead of my own comfy bed because of "maybe."

Could be worse.

Yep. I got half that many miles last night. And tonight won't be much better. It's feast or famine lately for me.

 

Just got home from Central Command, I.E. the warehouse in Pittsburgh. Just came back from a 2 day layover route under chain division operating authority. Out in West Virginia all week running West Virginia public schools.

 

I just got home to Cleveland I was on a 2 day layover route in West Virginia tired, been living in hotels for the past 3 weeks happy to be done with that.

 

Did you see the GFS yard where I work it's right by your terminal you probably drove by my tractor sitting out there in the back of our yard with a dead battery. I've been away at the warehouse for 3 weeks and the swing drivers have taken my once nice tractor and like Nicole Eggert who was once nice looking have totally trashed it and turned it to garbage.
