I may have engaged in a bit of distracted driving today...

Rolling along with the window open and something bounces off my forehead. I'm all like "WTH was that?" and I look down to see an inch-long wasp hanging out on my junk. :biggrin_2555: I ended up in the other lane for a couple of seconds as I swatted him to the floor and stomped him.

I get to my stop a couple of miles away, and the little ***** is upright and wandering around. I stomp him again and sweep him out of the cab. I get my freight off, and as I get back in the truck, I notice that he's back on his feet and crawling away!!

Great. Not only do we have killer bees in Arizona, now we apparently have mutant zombie wasps. I'm going to carry a flamethrower in the cab from now on.

I rolled the window down, and tossed the butt out, so there wasn't too much crying... but that was only because they weren't sure if I was actually smoking in "their" truck.

    Babies.

And news to you... You don't actually own the truck. The company does.

I used to be stationed at Malmstrom AFB in Montana. It's an ICBM base. One of the missile maintenance dudes had something similar happen. Wasp came into his window and he freaked. Unfortunately he was on a dirt road and there was a steep ditch on both sides. He rolled his missile transporter. Luckily his trailer was empty.

I’m not giving that up for anyone, but if for whatever reason I wind up in someone’s truck that I know is not a smoker, I will at least attempt to be decent about it and leave the truck as clean as I found it. Fortunately for them I only burn one about every 2 hours.

And if you ever manage to quit, you'll be one of the biggest babies. That's how it works.

There is a company here in Ohio that takes a strict interpretation of the workplace smoking ban and applies it to their trucks. Since they are considered workplaces and those drivers slip seat they will fire anybody who smokes in their truck.

Here's my deal. I quit smoking several years ago, but I still smoke cigars occasionally. I made sure that the driver who uses my truck during the day is okay with it, and I make sure I'm not recirculating it through the air conditioner and I have the window cracked. I personally don't mind if someone were to smoke cigarettes in my truck as long as it wasn't left a mess, but what I can't stand is driving a smoker's truck who never cares to clean the inside. The dashboard, steering wheel, windows - everything gets sticky and nasty in a smoker's truck when they never clean it.

I think the bottom line is to be respectful. Why can't we all just get along?!
