@Radman not sure if you have seen the safety posters where there are two forklifts that fell out of the back of a trailer/dock.

One of those pictures happened at my barn in Montana. Linedriver forgot to set his brake and chock his wheels. Our dock guy pulled into his trailer fairly fast and came to a quick stop. That motion was enough to get the truck and trailer rolling. Unbeknownst to poor Vaughn, he didn't realize what would happen next as he was backing out of the trailer.

He wore his seatbelt.... And universally all of us agreed that was the only thing that saved his life. He is the only known forklift operator in the state to survived this type of accident. He did suffer from a career ending back injury.

One place I deliver to requires chocks on one side, except for me because I have a liftgate. The dock restraint won't catch the bumper so they want me to chock both sides.

Same here. Since I usually have a liftgate, I'm often required to do the same thing. One place requires ALL drivers to give up the truck keys.
Another required just MY company to chock both sides, shut the truck off, put the transmission in gear and set ALL the brakes. One dock worker there also wants to know that the keys isn't in the truck either.
All because, one of our FORMER drivers was part of an accident there. Where their forklift driver rolled out of the back of the truck, because the operator AND OUR DRIVER made dangerous ASSUMPTIONS. I don't know ALL the details. But the net result is safety precautions.
Jenny-O Turkey, in my experience, requires dock locks on those capable, chocks on both sides and air line lock outs. The one nearest to us, WILL NOT drive in a straight truck.

Mike2633 and MACK E-6 Thank this.
