Glad I'm not the only one who works for a company that has idiots in the seat.

Our restricted road runner did it AGAIN yesterday. Has only been caught the first time. Still hasn't learned to NOT go down restricted roads.

so today I"m delivering liquor to warehouses. 5 stops all palletized. (in a can, but all the pallets are flipped sideways, it's full and it's HEAVY)

go to the 3rd stop (i've never been to any of these places, heck I didn't even know they existed) and i go to the address. It's like an industrial office park. Hmmmm, that seems strange for a warehouse ( I mean they are getting 2 big pallets of booze). I get up there. no cars in front, doors locked, inside the window, there's no furniture, just a phone and a computer box on the floor.

    What the heck?

Call the boss. shipping calls me back about 5 minutes later. Ohhhhhhhh, that's supposed to go to XYZ, a reshipper.

And how am I supposed to know this? I went to the address on the bills.

Anyway, go off to this reshipper. I have never been there. I"ve lived here my whole life. I wasn't even real sure how to get there. Some isolated older part of the industrial area. HUGE warehouse. Total DUMP. I mean broken down trailers and trucks everywhere, doors falling off, etc. A bunch of Central Transport yellow trucks (right? say no more) Find the man door and go in and the women in the office say "oh just go in the warehouse and find someone and they'll tell you."

Ok, there is stuff everywhere, boxes just thrown willy nilly, i mean looks like hoarders anonymous. It's a dump

Find a guy, says go to door 15

I back into door 15, the guy on the forklift takes off the two pallets (with all kinds of different stuff on them) counts precisely nothing and signs all the bills.

Ok, i am outta here. Probably wasn't there 10 minutes. Still feel dirty from it.

    Central Transport....................................

    Here’s a headscratcher.

Why would a dispatcher send a loaded straight truck to a pickup that was missed the day before when it’s still first thing in the morning and hasn’t even gotten anything off yet?

That was the stupidest thing I’ve heard in a long time.

I got ya beat. Big sign says no truck traffic in neon green. Bright boy goes anyway. Then when backing out due to the locked gate and excavating equipment, proceeds to take out a fire hydrant. Does pick up. Tells nobody. Doesn't think... hmmmm... wonder if they have cameras ......

    Yup. We do.

ha. something similar happened where i work, twice. first time random otr guy was at the wrong place, flips a uturn and demolishes the mailbox - that tail swing. second time, once again..(different) random otr guy makes a delivery and upon departure proceeds to level the gate and associated bollard. i guess neither of them thought the company has cameras - both peaced out. we (the drivers) initially got blamed for the mailbox prior to camera review.

Nailed a big deer last night, which did a number on my purty ride. She'll be down for a while for lots of front end work including a new radiator. Apparently our guys got a few of them last night - I wasn't the only one.

I've hit a few in cars over the years and had plenty of close calls in a truck, but this was my first in a truck in 15 years and over a million miles.

Haven't hit a deer yet, but I used to count them on the AA to stay awake when I ran from Cincinnati to Huntington, WV.

I did get sideswiped last Wednesday by an oversize escort car driven by a twitchy meth head, though. He had the courtesy to pull over, although he left before the responding officer arrived. But not before I got a nice clear picture of his license plate.

I've hit a total of 18 in three years of doing linehaul. I broke the company record my first year by hitting three in a single collision.

    I hit a cow once.

and a deer on a motorcycle (and didn't go down believe it or not)

no deer in a truck (yet), no bears, no elk.
