Your guess is better than mine. That's why I had to ask. For the first time in my driving career, I have several nearby options other than Reddaway.

So you guys tell me, what's good or bad? I am finally on the east coast!

Yes OD has a barn in Columbia. Also it is a relay point for some loads going south.

    They are in my book.

One of the worst micromanagers in the industry.

R&L has a terminal down that way, and ODFL will certainly beat the hell out of Saia’s BS.

Welcome to my neck of the woods, driver! Around Columbia there’s a YRC terminal, USF Holland, R+L, Saia, OD, fedex freight and UPS freight, southeastern, Estes. Pretty much just take your pick. Im an ltl driver for a very small company around Columbia and I’ve been by pretty much all the terminals while driving. If you have any questions about the area or anything feel free to pm me.

I'll always recommend ODFL. It's a strong company and the 401k with profit sharing is what you'd expect with a growing company. Having said that ... if you wanna do P&D, you can make out better in places that pay overtime. OD pays after 60 hours, but you'll never see those hours. They might as well just say they don't wanna pay overtime. For linehaul, I'd highly recommend ODFL.

Thanks for the responses. I guess my first question is, what is a reasonable starting wage for the area? My last job paid about $21/hour with OT after 8. I am not expecting the OT part, but I think $19+ an hour should be on par or is that too high for a asking wage?

Someone offered me $17/hour but it's mostly warehouse with some driving. I am probably turning it down

In the northeast top rate for OD is around $29. Not sure about starting wage. Anything under 20 seems low ... even for starting wages. At least in LTL.

I’d say around $19 is acceptable. The cost of living here isn’t too bad.
