Besides checking my tyres? Meh... Usually when going up a steep grade, I stand on my accelerator, hunched over the wheel, with my right hand holding the wheel and my left hand banging the bloody door with the thumper going "Come on you bloody basturd, come on!!! Climb that bloody hill".

Yeah, everyone except for our sales guy drives a truck. Even my TM that runs our satellite terminal from across the state holds a CDL and will run routes when we are short staffed. Damnedest thing I've ever seen.... seeing him switch from business attire to dressing up like a P&D driver, running the forklift. Out of all the descriptions I can think of for him, "respect" will top my list.

Met my meet driver at my turn point and grabbed his rocky set. He asked me if I was going to be ok with handling the weight. Me: what weight?!?!

Front box; 49,000 lbs, Rear box; 5,000 lbs. CGVW 104,000 lbs (out of 106,000 lbs allowable).

Did you scale out ok when you brought these over the stateline?

"No idea, both the scales were closed. My pickup point didnt have any scales either."

My turnpoint had working scales, so I scaled my truck and long box: Steer: 10,500, Drives: 30,000, Trailer Tandems: 33,800.

Trailer BOL was two pages long, so somewhere around 35-40 different bills. Someone give the dockworker that loaded that trailer a medal. I was positive I would have been over on at least one axle.

as long as it's a manpower issue then that's the right thing to do. If it was just one guy out and was doing it to cut overtime then that's wrong.

Cant really blame the company for wanting to save on costs. Just the nature of business man. Making sure a driver gets his 8 is fine but hats of to a manager actually peddling freight. Now a guy like that I can respect. And he is actually on the ground, so if a driver takes longer, he knows it actually is so.

Even as an ex employee your still brain washed lol. At yrc if the manager was curious why a driver took all day somewhere he would go with them for the day and see what they go through. Back at CWF some terminals would come pick you up and have a guy finish your route so you don't get overtime at all

Not brain washed at all Andrew, just took business classes and even from a normal perspective it makes sense. As long as you get your required 40, that's good. I don't know why drivers are all whining about overtime. If you need overtime(not you) to survive, you need to check yourself.

It must be because I was so sour about working 14 hrs a day/ 5 days a week.

OK yes I will 100% agree with that. I'm doing 70 with UPSF and its killing me. When I peddled I never cared if I got extra time. I always normally took it if offered but was nice to have that. Usually Fridays I wouldn't take it lol, but that's because I worked friday Nights at a bar. When I was off I would take it though. Just banked a lot
