Oh, I got screwed. Linehaul guy had some hot shot loads for my darn Starbucks...
So did you my route then had to run a pup with all my starbucks stuff. Made some good dinero. Still easy day, but I probably covered 150 inner city miles so it just took so freaking long

That Estes yard looks more annoying than my yard.

Lately it seems like we work for FXFlooring. 3500# of bamboo flooring on two skids, residential. On the plus side, they're normal-size pallets and not the 6' monsters that businesses generally get. On the minus side, 3500# on two skids. Knowing the particular community as I do, this is going to be relatively easy or completely impossible.
OK, here's the house--thanks and praise to the Lord, it's a relatively flat driveway, not the 20% grade of slippery concrete that half of the homes around here have. And the lady is actually home, and very pleasant! (Don't you love it when they're actually home when they say they'll be?) So I get backed up into her driveway. Even though I'm working against a very slight uphill slope, the first pallet comes off with a bit of effort...but it's the little one. The larger skid ain't at all moving uphill unless I suddenly turn into Superman.
OK, time to get creative. If I turn out of her drive the way I pulled in, I will now be pointing slightly uphill, letting me move the second skid. So I pull out, hang the second skid--on the jack--off the end of the liftgate, and swing back into her driveway. The angle of the gate lets me roll the second skid right into position in her garage. It about blew her mind, and she thanked me profusely(and even tipped me a sawbuck).
Hey, man--all in a day's work for a P&D driver!MACK E-6, Fuelinmyveins, misterG and 2 others Thank this. -
The 2014s weren't bad, our divisions fleet is like 50/50 half the trucks are good and newer and alright and the other half are kind of shot. -
You guys with your young trucks, shoot.......Mine just turned 989,800 today. 2006 Freightshaker with a Mercedes under the hood.
Ain't got no DEF or particulate filters to give me headaches. Just a strong 450 MERC to peddle freight. -
I know I’ve never heard a more annoying exhaust note than on one of those. They sound like an engine brake stuck on. -
Another trick in situation like that you can use is to move the skid side to side across the driveway to dilute the grade, like a road snaking its way up a mountainside.Gearjammin' Penguin Thanks this. -
how do those old trucks have such few miles on them? the 13 mack i’m in has 830k on it. runs 22/24 hours a day mon-sat morning. we have a bunch of sterlings with benz motors, they usually make it to about 1.4 million before they come apart.
Mike2633 and Bob Dobalina Thank this.
