Most of our p/d guys go out with a set almost daily. Ive had to build and break sets in strange places before. A while back i had to break my set of emptys on a dirt shoulder on a dead end road and load 20k of phone books in each one out of a storage unit, then rebuild the set on the other side of the roads muddy shoulder

As for dunnage, yeah a crapload of it goes out on friday night lol. We are a small terminal, only 11 doors so there's not much room on the dock. I don't do morning inbound unloads, but I see what we get, though we never seem to have enough tables. I load for carlisle, dayton, and greensburg so if you get those coming out of altoona I probably helped load it.
Oh BTW, I wasn't complaining, I was rantingShaggy Thanks this. -
I've never ventured to carlisle or the dayton shops, our shop steward runs to dayton and the other fella runs to carlisle. no doubt those shops get forward our excessive dunnage lol
we hear about it weekly from those drivers "why the heck did yins build a fort in front of the U-pack" same answer to the same question every time lol
We are also a super small terminal.
The Management at ABF is easy to work with at this location. Unlike UPSF, it was a Us vs Them attitude. Supervisors was a revolving door looks good on resume.Last edited: May 26, 2014

Well I'll be joining the city crowd in a few weeks. Not looking forward to the city work but gonna love the normal hours again. Due to personal reasona I'm leaving UPSF, also they are moving the terminal further away. I was trying to get out of the industry altogether but was having a hard time so I took a position with another carrier. UPSF is becoming just as strict if not stricter than CWF as a lot of higher ups who worked for CWF are coming over. Also I asked for the city position as my line Haul rub is killing me. We got 2 open but won't allow me to switch over.
The carrier I'm going too (until further notice won't be posted) offers a sweet pension and everything. Its a regional carrier and pays less then the bigger LTLs but from what I heard from everyone management does not bother you if your doing your job which isn't a problem for me as I like doing honest days work.
And yes I tried going back to YRC but never heard back from the place I applied. I could easily return to my old terminal but its 120 miles away and soonim buying my dads house so I don't want to do that. YRC was THE BEST job I had and kicking myself for not transferring homeroad_runner, Shaggy, Big Don and 1 other person Thank this. -
Have fun brother and sometimes it is greener on the other side of fence.ACH1130 Thanks this. -
