That was an older trailer probably shuffled around through the entire system from warehouse to warehouse I bet that had been broke for a good long while for sure could be at least a month probably longer probably a couple months.

Agreed. That's a lot of rust. Granted, stuff like living near the coast or snow melt will expedite the oxidation process. It has to be at least a few years.

We have a couple just like this. A FORMER coworker intentionally did it.
He didn't want anyone moving the axles. On our shared trailers. Not the pool of equipment that most of you have, but still. We all share them. And he didn't like having to move them.
Plus he could tell a couple of our customers that his trailer tandems were fixed and unable to be moved.

Is there a rule at US Foods that every US Foods trailer has to have some kind of missing panel or flopping door or duct taped piece of plastic duct taped to the refer unit? US Foods in Twinsberg, Ohio you should see some of there trailers, newer trailers with new refer units and the refer units are missing the doors and panels that cover the insides. There running down the road with the refer units guts all exposed.

Not that were perfect at GFS we've got issue to believe me, but I can't say I've ever had a trailer where the refer unit was missing half of it's access doors and cover panels.

Mike, those aren't missing. Those are efficiency upgrades.
SO the mechanics don't have to slow down when they come to fix the unit. Less down time removing panels.

It wouldn't surprise me. I'm pretty sure at least 75% of our trailers are like that. I had one a couple of months ago that wasn't strapped down and it flew open while I was going down the highway. They have started putting some serious effort into trailer maintenance though. I haven't had a trailer without working interior lights in at least 3 weeks.
I keep meaning to check the mfg dates on ours, because they don't seem that old. It just feels like they weren't maintained properly for a while.

    Cardfan89 and Mike2633 Thank this.

We had some International tractors at Gordon's that I guess they could have been okay trucks, but they were not really liked that much, by the drivers or the company for that matter and they I think weren't maintained as well as they should have been.

We have some older trailers, but GFS tries always had since day 1 they have tried to keep there stuff in factory condition no missing pieces parts I've never had a refer unit missing half it's doors and panels, every time they clear something as good to go it's put back together like it came from the factory. This winter was pretty good, I think I only had maybe 1-2 trailers without working cargo lights this winter.

Actually we did pretty good this winter sometimes we have a lot of break downs and stuff, but our truck fleet at are warehouse is a little newer, and the shop seems to be able to have a better handle on things now then 24-36 months ago and we made it through the winter I thought pretty good.
