The shop we use is generally pretty good at keeping up with PMs and quickly fixing anything we write up, but about a third of our small fleet is made up of rentals right now and nobody has a good explanation why.

We have our own in house fleet shop, but they do get overwhelmed and every now and then and send stuff out. We did have some rentals for a while, but they bought some new tractors and the rentals faded away.

What did they expect you to do instead? Seems like you made a reasonable decision to me (although I’m in foodservice so I’ll do anything to use a dock if it’s available).

Had to do that a couple of times . Sometimes putting your truck at a 90° angle is the only way for traffic in front of it to continue flowing.

    Mike2633 and misterG Thank this.

I hate not being able to hit a dock square. Makes me look like an idiot.

I delivered to Reinhart Food Service today. 3 pallets, 102 pieces total. Was there for 3 hours, then they had the nerve to charge a lumper fee. I don't miss OTR one bit (I pulled reefer OTR). At least I was getting paid for those 3 hours.

    misterG and Mike2633 Thank this.

After three pullups the dock crew yelled at me saying they can get the ramp up just fine .

"Hang on, give me two more tries. This is about vanity and principle. I've been driving way to long to be offcentered and crooked"

Yeah but wait until you get that trailer perfectly centered and straight between the lines, you feel good about yourself, then you walk inside and realize the lines are so far off that the ramp barely makes it into the trailer.
