Pretty much length of service and seniority bid usually you also have to be based out of the warehouse. Those volume runs aren't really open bid either there kind of apply or you kind of fall into it it's not a free for all bid system on those.

Ok that makes me feel better. I keep seeing jobs where I look at it and think “oh that would be awesome” but I have to remind myself that I’m playing the long game. Staying put at a company that values seniority will work out better than job hopping all over the place for anything that looks cool.

    Indeed.

I see all these posts about people losing their seniority if they switch from city to linehaul or vice versa and it reminds me of how glad I am that we don’t play that game here.

Holland strips your seniority for 1 year and 1 day. After that you regain it and can start booting people (depending on where you previously sat).

At Reddaway they took it all and you just started over. We had too much drama with all the booting.

And the slip seating... Oh my god.:biggrin_2556::biggrin_2555:

We only slip seat tandem trucks thankfully, and I drive a single screw that’s tagged heavy so I can still pull pups with it on weekends for an extra run. You just can’t beat that.

I commend you guys that have to deal with the “musical truck” crapola and the patience that takes.

Just found out that I will be driving one out of 40 or so available trucks at any given day. It's going to suck for the next few years until I can have some seniority to bid on a truck.

    Mike2633 Thanks this.

You bid trucks? How does that work?

Ours were just handed out by seniority.

    Mike2633 Thanks this.

Same way we bid routes. Twice a year everything is up for grabs including trucks. In some places it included company owned tools. I was pretty much advised to buy my own pallet jack since our barn quit buying them.

    Cardfan89 and Mike2633 Thank this.

Buy a crown pallet jack. That’s the kind we have at GFS and they are excellent compared to Raymond or any Chinese made generic brand.
