For the most part, all the drivers stick together and get along regardless what is printed on the side of their trailer. I missed the old circle jerks with all the other LTL guys when we all waited to get loaded at a customer. I get the occasional giggle when I get to "poach" some freight that was left behind from a different carrier.
Corporate and sales is an entire different animal though. What's fun and game to us is hardball to them. They are obsessed with their Excel spreadsheets and will come down on their drivers for missing a cutthroat rate pickup with a "new" account.

Anyone working this Friday? We are supposedly running a skeleton crew. I am not even on the seniority list yet, so I may be forced to stay home or come in.

062 and road_runner Thank this.

I took the Friday off in January. I’m surprised none of the big dogs ahead of me took it off. I know one guy screwed up and he’s just gonna call off and forfeit his holiday pay.
-
Supposedly we have a volunteer stay at home list since people want to work that Friday. In which case, I am the first to stay home. Unless the rumor mill is running backwards, in which case, I am the first person that has to show up.
-
I’m working friday if we are. Only time I’d volunteer to be off in a situation like that is if a snowstorm is on the way.
-
I have the 4th off, but it’s unclear if that means Wednesday night or Thursday night. I’ve heard both depending on who I ask.
-
We are, but there's a lot of places taking a 4 day weekend. Should be light.
road_runner Thanks this.
