I get to drive a truck again tomorrow. Yay me. Got bumped inside for a few days. Learned a lot about what goes into putting the orders together on the trucks. Some of those dudes work their ##### off in there. It's like 50 dudes with 15 doing 75% of the work. It was kinda funny tho, talking to all these young dudes and nobody really seems to want to drive. Nobody really seemed to have any ambition to move out of that warehouse into any other job (driver, merchandiser, sales, etc). It was kinda strange because when I started at UPS we were all counting the days in the hub until we could go drive. The warehouse isn't meant to be a forever job here, it's basically just to feel people out to make sure they are worth moving into a better job. Hard ### work tho, long ### hours.

Does anybody know why they would bolt on dock bumpers but opt out of installing actual doors?

Seems like a useless setup. 20190913_130610.jpg

Looks to me like a precast concrete panel wall and the bumpers may have been put on before they stood the panels up. Future plans perhaps...

Maybe the lot is tight so when they park trailers the plan is to just back them up against the wall?

Any chance they load or unload dropped flatbeds there?

So all of your guys guesses were some of my first thoughts. I thought it might be assigned spots for storage trailers and the bumpers keep them in a row plus protects the building. But the building itself is brand brand new and if you go inside, they got the same numbers and cut outs to match the outside. So they could potentially expand as well. There was a separate area for flatbeds to get unloaded.

What an excrement show leading to the weekend. Had to use a 16 hour exception on Thursday to get home. Friday morning since I had used the 16, I ran out of hours and had to lay down in a hotel 2 hours from home.
