To Hell with the qualifiers. They are.

A good one will know where his drivers are, won’t send driver 75 miles to pick up 1 skid, and won’t play favorites. If a customer needs a late arrival, he’ll send the driver that starts later.

Seems to me it shouldn’t be tantamount to rocket science, but what do I know?

I don’t remember Thanksgiving being that bad last year. Seemed pretty normal leading up to it, except they modified the routes that week and I had to come in on my day off. Grocery stores will be way busier than normal, but restaurants not so much.

Holland has time management down to a science. Since working there I had one 41 hour week and one 62 hour week. Everything in-between averages to 52 hour weeks. Doesn't seem to matter when I start, i am always back to clock out with no more than 2 and a half hours of OT.

I can't say I miss the 65+ hour workweeks. That's for the birds... And as for the sweet pay, taxes eat up most of the frosting once you get past the 55 hour threshold. At least so it seems.

Never understood why some of these 24/7/365 restaurants don't let their people take turkey day and Christmas off. Outside of truck stops, I rarely see anyone eating at a Waffle House or a IHOP. So it doesn't surprise me that food service isn't too busy with restaurants. Grocery stores on the other hand make me thankful I do dry van around the end of the year.

Feel for the guys lumping 20k of canned cranberry sauce. I don't know anyone that eats thar crap.

A way to prevent that from happening is to have your W4 adjusted appropriately. For example, if you know you are going to be pulling in $1700 a week due to working 15 hours of O/t every week, using that information to correctly dial in your tax liability will eliminate that “more you make, more they take” paycheck shock that comes from most people using the typical 1 or 2 exemptions on their W-4. Prime example is to look at my stubs and see the taxes that I haven’t redacted from the image. I’ll either owe nothing or get a small amount of money back at the end of the year as well.

You are absolutely correct. I know some people select 0 or 1 on their filing status so they can get a nice big refund come filing season in April. Little do they realize that the refund equals the amount that they overpaid to the government all year and they are now getting it back with no interest or anything. It's best just to receive that money with each paycheck so you can either invest it or pay off debt.

As you said, ideally you should get back very little to nothing when you file. That's a recent lesson for me and I anticipate my next refund to be fairly low.

The court is the worst for that the plaza is busier but laid out much much better.
