These were two of the loads that I did over the last two years for a tree farmer in the local area. And I spend the majority of my time a S.A. Columbia, slamming doors.
    Until this guy calls.

    D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

You know, most of us local guys really don't actually drive much. It's more of a commute from one stop to another using memorized routes or the game of Russian roulette of Google maps. And trust me, I've logged plenty of miles (not meters) backing out of areas cause Google screwed me.

We are constantly dealing with shippers and receivers, sometimes 12-25 times a day. So in contrast to OTR, the pure nature of our job opens up so many doors to many potentially RIDICULOUS scenarios. And what better medium is there outside of this forum to address those gripes and complaints?

It's a unique field within a industry for sure. One great thing about us is that we have so many drivers that can articulate their experience on here in relatable and entertaining ways. And that commentary is a benefit of it's own.

Max that Roth 401k out by Oct or Nov every year for the next 25 in several good growth stock mutual funds and your pension check will look like running around money.

I’d like to know that too.

Obviously you can’t crank anything down too tight.

    Pretty much.
We averaged 50 plus trees per load.
    Average weight, 250# per tree.
I cranked those suckers TIGHT. ON the root ball. Never touched the tree itself.

FlaSwampRat, MACK E-6 and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

I certainly recall backing out of LONG driveways. Or dirt roads that are dead ends, with no signage to that affect.
Or the contractor that wants to know why I didn't have a Moffit on my trailer, since HIS customer specified that it was needed. When they ordered their floor tile ONLINE from Home Depot. Who then shipped said tile, common carrier.
The couple who wanted me to back onto their lawn, to put their hot tub on their deck for them. NO ##### WAY........

The ABSOLUTE level best is the customer who ALWAYS says that "We get trucks in here, all the time"
