I come across a lot of unmanifested hazmat bills that come thru the hub. I think it’s ridiculous but supervisors don’t care. They just give me a door to load it in.

My intention is not to pick a fight but I do want to engage the context of your comment. Respectfully, you are stating something that I view a bit short sighted. In my opinion, this is not just a "blip". Yeah, in the long run the stock market will recover and people will make a small fortune grabbing stocks and mutual funds at Milwaukee's Best Beer prices. Let me explain ..

We had a discussion today and the Honda plant came up since they are rumoring it to shut down. Someone said "that's just one account, it sucks but they are just taking precaution". So I respectfully shot it to my coworker straight.

It's more than just one account for us. Dozens if not hundreds of accounts are tied to it.

Akebono Brakes right here in Columbia manufactures and provides them the brake pads

MTU in Granitville sends out some engine components

Mancor in Lugoff sends them filters

Autoneum is responsible for manufacturing all their plastic door panels and dashboards

Koyo/Bridgestone are probably supplying Honda with tires

All while Precast Steel here in Columbia is sending them raw finished galvanized steel sheets so they (or another manufacturer) can stamp out their hoods, doors, and quarter panels.

These are just a few examples I came up with. I am sure there are many more involved with the final product.

Thousands of people are connected to this... Including us and our competitors that supply stuff that is outside of our Network. I have good reason to be concerned. All it takes is a single case of Covid-19 at our terminal and SCDHEC will send us all home.

I hope you are absolutely right. Maybe I am overreacting. But something tells me the next few weeks are going to be bleak.

Easy. The doors are closed, the ppw doesn't say it's hazmat so they roll.

I understand and on the companies that might be impacted I fully agree. I was only talking 401k...etc. Similar to after 9/11. Stocks took a hit, but as of a few weeks ago were at record highs. All came back on the "market." But no, I am not talking about the economic impact to companies. Just the individuals worried about the "loss" in their 401ks.

You know, if you are in a position to still contribute to your 401k or whatever retirement account, none of this will really affect you. There are tons of instances now where people are eating the penalty and dipping into their retirement accounts early cause they are going broke. Goldman Sachs is going to release a report later on next week. They are predicting that over 2 million new applications for unemployment were submitted already. That is up from 280,000 the previous week.

I am deeply concerned about the impact of society. I mean, the rest of us on here will be fine. If accounts get suspended, I am pretty sure we will be expediting medical supplies and all kinds of other emergency stuff. There are a bunch of other people that will not have the means to provide for their family. Scares the hell out of me.

BTW... This was the cold cut meat section at Walmart last night. FB_IMG_1584728662137.jpg
