In my opinion you are both correct. He is correct that it is a temporary blip (who knows how temp, could be a couple weeks or could be a couple years) and you are correct that many jobs/companies are effected by one manufacturer halting production. Unfortunately many other large manufacturers are also halting operations. The health community doesn’t have a full grasp on how severe this is yet, which is to be expected with something fairly new. I know corona has been around, but this is the novel IE “new”. I see this as the biggest factor why currently no one has any idea as to how long this will adversely effect our economy. It is like shooting craps, some of us are going to be correct and some of us are going to be wrong. I am hopeful for the best outcome, but preparing for the worst and may not fully know what the worst will look like yet.

Here’s the problem though. There were boxes clearly marked “corrosive”, which were visible from the side you handle the skid from. Somebody somewhere along the line should’ve put two and two together.

I see where you’re coming from and I agree.

Unfortunately too many people in this job think “losing ‘that’ account only means that much less work I have to do”.

They don’t realize that what’s good for business is usually also good for them.

Here's the problem though, you can't see those skids from the driver's seat.

Not once you close those back doors.

You severely overestimate the capacity of most people working most places to GAF.

Meant to respond to this alot earlier. But it sounds like the PU driver didn't read the BoL and didn't flag the shipment for hazmat on the computer. Everyone else probably didn't think anything of it and treated the freight as a regular shipment

The thing is, it’s peoples’ JOB to gaf. The ones that don’t deserve to get the boot IMHO. And if a forklift operator can’t or won’t catch this when he goes to scan the PRO sticker he’s one of those people as far as I’m concerned.

Ultimately, management won't care until something goes really wrong. And if management won't care, most of the drones below won't care either.

And that’s certainly a big problem around here.

Sure, you don’t have to crack skulls all the time, but you can’t be afraid to do it when it’s necessary.

    misterG Thanks this.
