What are some useful ways or techniques to keep your ratchet binders from locking up?
You would think they would be more durable being that they are used outside.

They are durable, if you oil them regularly. Just like a truck, it'll work and everything will spin, but you need to change the oil and grease it to make sure nothing seizes or burns up.

And keep them snugly closed in storage to keep the dirt from accumulating on the threads and more importantly, to keep the threads from wearing out.
Are you having problems with the binders seizing up as you are tightening a chain?

Oil regularly as suggested. I use PB blaster and 3 in 1 oil.

I'm sure anything would work, just a case of regular care.

I use hub oil on mine. It's thick and last for months. As mentioned keep them closed to keep the grim out.

I use snap binders, they are much more dangerous, and can do serious damage. However, they are a lot faster and don't require the amount of up keep as ratchet style binder. Price tag is also much lower.

I have a problem with them seizing up period. When I take them out to use them it's like wrestling trying to get them to unwind to prepare them for use.
I think I'm gonna try that hub oil trick.
I use dry lock fluid from time to time an it helps a bit but like anything else it dries out. I think my regimen is just off as far as how regularly i apply the oil

A daily shot of CRC keeps mine working perfectly.

I use hub oil in mine but I also take them out once or twice a year and clean them thoroughly. I screw them all the way out and actually take the ends out and clean the threads with a wire wheel. I lube them before hanging them up every time. I get a lot of mud and road grime on them.
