Never knew there was a distinction on that. I always thought eastern euros referred to anyone from former Iron bloc countries.

 

Yeah, for us, people from old Soviet block countries, everyone who is in EU now is considered "Western", even though technically that is incorrect

 

one thing I would tell you is don’t trust “official government sources” for facts.

proven beyond doubt that the gooberment can and does edit these facts for its own benefits.

 

The US doesn't give a rats behind what qualifications or experience you have overseas before you come here. I had the NZ equivalent of a CDL 'A', with all endorsements, but had to start like a 15 year old kid would here getting car license.

I had very little experience, with semis, anyway. Lots of lighter duty and LTL style 6-10 wheeler - the US experience is just worlds apart from NZ.

The H2B visa thing - I always thought it was a bit of a grey area as far as driving positions went, but must have been OK if immigration and labor departments here approved the process.

The CDL part - total fraud. I got my practical skills test at a place in SE MO that was later shut down for substandard testing, cash under the table practices, an MO DMV sent notice to hundreds of drivers to re-test.

I didn't get the mail, because my address on my license was D&D Sexton, and we had just started with ODFL.

ODFL called and said my license was cancelled, so I had to re-test - then the hazmat became an issue because I was still on a work card at that stage, awaiting the 2 year green card. They wouldn't issue the hazmat, because the fingerprinting place (govt. department) deemed me as a 'threat'. Lots of digging to find that there just wasn't a 'box' for me to fit into, until the green card.

Caused a lot of problems, and we nearly lost the position at ODFL because of it.

What I'm really wanting to understand, is what states are issuing CDL licenses on a tourist visa - and how. I know CA is one, that will test in whatever language also. Missouri cracked down a long while ago - and I think even IL did around 2008 or so?

 

I don't think any state is issuing CDL on tourist visa anymore

 

Then what’s the point of having to have a real ID CDL?
