If you pull your curtains around, or put up a sunshade or the like, you can extend your sleeper berth area and legally sit up front. We have been instructed by the company even as solo drivers sitting in passenger seat in a truck stop will have to be logged on duty unless the windshield is curtained off.

I've heard of some drivers even putting up black plastic garbage bags on the windows while driving so they can log line 2....

:biggrin_2556: I must admit i did my crazy share of the road, like in southern Iowa, there's a low bridge, so i cut across on this two lane , sorry not too name hyways , for some driver , will try it, but i was like 34 miles in when i came into this bridge, railroad out in middel of nowere, 13-8, i just said o-crap, so i pull up will close en stopped,, now tractor would clear , but trl would not, now the day before they put on low profile tires on trl , but still not gonna clear, and i couldnt back up 34 miles, cause there was no place to turn around,so what to do, so i sit with 4 ways on , thinking, then it hit me , my little pocket cal, figure out the formulea, then flip the dump air bags out , en proced thru i had a inch to spare, then as i got thru , super slow, i hear this weird noise i thought i hit the sign on other side , i just said o -crap again, nope it was smokey bear , i made his lights turn pretty colors,he was flashing all his lights at me , so pretty,:biggrin_2559: but he comes up too me and im thinking ,all this time heres your sign and heres yours $589 ticket, nope told me get out of truck, now im thinking im going too jail too boot, nope he wanted too shake my hand of true proff truck driver and told me that was some mighty fine driving, and told me last a week , a trucker slam it hard , so we chatted a bit as i was in no hurry and then left, i blew a big sigh of reliagh and got outa there,:biggrin_255:

Haha, I did the same thing with the air bags to get under a low bridge in Spokane, WA. Only I didn't get an attaboy from any leo's just a few "slautes" for holding up traffic while I measured up to the bridge and managed to crawl under it with the bags dumped. Oh, BTW who knew Spokane would be like a miniature Chicago. Low clearances everywhere!:biggrin_25516:

If I sit on the steps of my truck, eating my lunch, because it's a nice day out and I don't want to get crumbs in my comforter, am I "on duty not driving"?:biggrin_2556:
