    Check out this video RussianBear

HOS is not rocket surgery. Most people would agree a reset on the road isn't plan A unless you have to.
Omnitracs? Are you ####ing kidding me? I realise you have this elog mandate down there but it does NOT take a supercomputer or a bloody desk jockey to add up 7 or 8 numbers and figure out if their sum is more or less than 70. Whatever did you do without that idiot box to tell you how to wipe your ###?

You ain’t the load planner, broker or dispatcher are you? You ain’t in charge. Get on the phone, New Guy, with the ones who ARE in charge and confirm what’s available.

But put your upper plate back in first, so they can understand you.

He's right, you know. It's not rocket science. You always have 70 hours coming to over the next 8 days, always.

You don't need and you don't want to be relying on a planner to tell you your hours ... Your ELD tells all the same info that a planner has access to.

Actually the planners don't care nor want to waste thier time telling you what you should already know. Call them and ask that question and you will be tagged as an idiot and get the crappy loads that idiot can run.

In my experience, most load planners don't even look at a driver's available hours. They expect all drivers to be cookie cutter 400-450 mile per day recap chasers.

My current planner is pretty good. He has learned that I run hard, then take 34, so I get a lot of cross-country drop and hook loads because he knows that I will either drive the whole way at 600-650 miles per day and get it there a day earlier, or i will take a 34 on route, and still get it there before most recap-chasers.

You don't have to, nor should you limit yourself to 450 miles or 8.5 hours a day running recap. Just manage your hours and run. Like I said you always have 70 hours coming back to you over the next 8 days.

Once the planners know and trust you to manage your hours, you'll get the loads to match your hour.

The other thing to manage recap is to get yourself out of the mindset of a weekly pay check. Just run and don't worry about getting loads in by the end of the week. The pay will go up and down week to week, but will average out to more per week.

I am going to agree with @MysticHZ run the hours. Never lock yourself into anything. Look, if you can take a load going 1200 miles 800 of those miles that's OK, the company might be able to repower the load and you can sit and enjoy a 34. Run your hours as the freight is running. When I was driving I used those 34s to study, get some clothes washed and sometimes even do some visiting of family.

As an o/o, I use my 34s for minor truck maintenance. Since I can't drive anyway. That way I don't lose income.

Run through Atlanta. They are still cleaning the Gorge. Also the current rains raging through there without end will add more pressure to the mountain lining the gorge, we will see it closed again by summer for rock slides.

Take the 34. be done with it be happy. If you burn through your 70 hours in 5 days? Oh well. 34 hours to do whatever. COOL! Sometimes it takes longer to get back useable hours on old style recap for the 9th day.

...so are you admitting to falsifying your logs? Or are you paying someone to do this "minor maintenance" ?
