I was just wondering if there are CDL-A jobs out there for people just starting out that are local and have you train locally?
For example, you work/drive with a trainer for a couple of months locally like even inside your own state.

Probably won't find it to where they train ya. At least not like an apprenticeship. Some LTL carriers will wave the one year otr requirement if you graduated from an accredited school. Check your area. I was hired on as a linedriver with a ltl carrier directly out of school. Don't let anyone on here tell you that it can't be done.
Check with vendors like Coke or one of the beer distributors as well. You may start out working the dock and pick up some shifts until something fulltime opens.
Before anyone asks. Yes, i started with pulling doubles and triple trailers. I haven't killed anyone yet or broken anything. Must be beginners luck -
Ok, thanks Road Runner

Depending on where you live you might check out con-way freight. They have a program where you work on the docks and show up early or after shift and they train you to drive local. It is a 3 month program. They do not have openings at all their terminals but had about 15 or so jobs open for this student program. When you get to their site check out careers and then LTL job openings last week.

road_runner Thanks this.

I looked at Con-Way but I'm not crazy about the idea of driving double and triples and that endorsement is needed to work for them.

you might try coke or pepsi or a local beer company.
