Ok, we are four months away from changing our lives. Our house is for sale, the youngest kid got into college, both of us have our CDL with all the endorsements. My hubby has been working as a truck driver for 2.5 years. We have been living separately for the past 18 months as he moved to another house we had, and I waited with our younger son until he finished high school.
So do we contact a recruiting agency or go straight to a company as team drivers? Which would anyone recommend. I have no experience at all, but got my cdl in August. The reason why I didn't get a driving job was because I didn't pass the physical with Schneider, and also it worked better for me to get an office job with regular hours while our son finished school. I also wanted to add that hubby works as a teamster right now, ad we are both in our 50's.
Recruiters or no?

Texas_hwy_287, Toomanybikes and Chinatown Thank this. -
Thank you and the other question is how far ahead should we contact them? Both of us have clear backgrounds and will def pass all drug checks. Just old fashioned hard working people.

I'd try Old Dominion and UPS first, before hauling general freight. They both hire new cdl grads. You have to apply online for the UPS OTR jobs. UPS doesn't hire out of their warehouse for those OTR jobs; they hire off the street.
Solo UPS drivers make $.7042 cpm plus accessorial pays.
I may be mistaken, but I think UPS teams make the same, for EACH team driver; not split.Last edited: Feb 4, 2018
