I used to do the very same thing over in Germany! Then I'd be almost overloaded! Sometimes they don't take that into consideration, that a reefer is automatically heavier!

In my 15 yrs I have worked for many of the large reefer carrier's Marten , FFE , and for the most part yeah .... Large national accounts for shippers = typically large accounts where that freight goes was always my experience with a few exceptions . I worked for several small to midsize carriers and went to the smaller and mid sized shipper's ..... with smaller docks/facilities . So no one size fits all scenario for your question but as a kind of rule of thumb the aforementioned has been my experience . As with any carrier depending on whether you're regional or 48 I found I was going to many of the same customer's time and time again when in specific area's so you get accustomed pretty quickly with each facilities procedure's , etc , and what to basically expect .

ok i have some questions ?? has anyone run a reefer out of phoenix for knight ? my husband will be a newbie but has 4 years xperience otr ( back in the 80s ) since then has been driving mixer truck, now wants to go otr again . was wondering once training is over can he take all the loads he can get ? does he have choices ? he said he wants to take whatever they will give him . Are there restrictions since he is new ? should he go dedicated first then 48 for a couple of years ?

I heard Knight is not all that good to go with, but since he hasn't driven in awhile. Guess it won't hurt to get his feet wet with them. They will give him whatever they have. They could care less where they send him. It's best to be otr so if you decide to leave. More companies will be willing to look at you seeing you have all types of driving terrain down. If he drove before I'm sure it won't take long to get his old skills back to working. He should be alright, just might have to watch out for those icing conditions once winter hits since he probably isn't use to it.
