It does seem that my dad tries to hang out next to other reefers if he can, but a lot of the time by the time we stop at a truck stop there is no where else to park but beside non-reefers because its so packed out. Sorry some of you guys hate reefers so much. They never bother me, even when an extremely noisy one parks next to us. Even some of those old Carrier units, which seem really loud, never bother me. Recently we got to pull a new TK Precedent reefer, and it was really nice. Seemed as though it hardly made any noise at all.

I talked with a driver last year while waiting to load. He said another driver had not only shut his unit off but somehow damaged it. He said another driver saw him do it. He called the cops and they actually arrested the guy that did it. Something about tampering with public food supply?
TriPac Dude, Simranjit and 281ric Thank this. -
I am glad that the jerk got caught tampering with that guys reefer. There are so many inconsiderate, and downright mean people in this world. By the way, was the load ruined because of that?
-
I try to park away from them, btu wont go out and turn one off. If it operating incorrectly and outside the max decibel range I will complain to the driver, but a normal reefer with proper muffler is aloud and i wont complain. I have a pretty quiet diesel bunk heater and thus prefer quiet and try to park away from them givent he option. This tim e of year there are more trucks idleing loudly then reefers though. Since the invention of DPF trucks will randomly idle up in the middle of the night to like 1500 rpms to clean themselves. That's far more annoying then a reefer. also, id rather park near a reefer then a livestock trailer just do to smell.
So yea, if possible i try to avoid um, but i would never turn one off. -
well deserved

a reefer driver has no choice so when I find an empty spot to park in way out of the way and one parks next to me, yes it bugs me but like someone else said, part of the gig.
Now an ######### that comes in revving his engine like hes trying to blow his pistons throught the block while everyone is sleeping, this fella has a choice and is just being an annoying prick. -
I personally hate the people that rev their engines real loud too. Also the jerks that sometimes lay on the air horns in the middle of the night. Sometimes though, one of those older Carrier reefers will park next to us, and when it starts up, it practically rocks the truck.

If I'm dragging a reefer I'll park next to a few others if I can. I don't like to be the only one making a racket. I will consciously not go park in the back row or next to a truck off by itself... That's just rude.
As for some cretin messing with my reefer switch, I bet I could wire up a taser to a big dummy switch that said OFF on it. Heh heh heh
Weeman7898 and TriPac Dude Thank this. -
JPenn, that's funny: wire a taser to the switch so they'd get zapped if they tried to turn it off. I wonder what the little a-hole would think then, when he was laid out on his back wizzing his pants because of the shock? My dad said that turning off someone's reefer was a federal offense and could land you some time in prison. Is that true?

I hate reefers and the racket they make. But even so, everyone has the right to park and get some sleep when they need it. If it's a full lot and the only available spot is beside me, by all means driver. But if the lot is half empty, please don't park right next to me and keep me from being able to get some sleep. And for God's sake man, if ya gotta park beside me, flip it over to continuous so atleast it's running steady instead of staring up and shutting down every thirty minutes.
