Noob here. I recently purchased a 2011 Utility VS1RA 28 ft Refrigerated Trailer for a special project. The trailer will be hauled to a location and never moved again. I understand the roofs of dry van trailers are very thin and not meant to support anything. But how durable is the roof construction for typical reefer trailers? Can you walk on top of them? Could you mount solar panels on top without structural risk? Any information is appreciated, thanks!

You can walk on most…been up there shoveling snow off more times than I can remember
They do/will give quite a bit though
Have no idea the weight of solar panels…but I’m betting if you lay couple layers of plywood on roof…to help spread out weight
You’ll be fine
Good luck -
The roofs don’t deal well with hail that’s for sure .
Maybe older ones were built better than what you buy today? -
You can walk on it. Not gonna hurt it.
