I'm sure bigger companies do it. I am a one truck show and frozen to me might as well be dry van freight. It usually pays marginally more than a dry load, as it is not as time sensitive as fresh produce. Fresh produce and your berries will earn you better money than say, apples, oranges, potatoes, onions, things that have a longer shelf life. That being said, unless you have a contract for a dedicated frozen account, it wouldn't be worth having the reefer with the thicker walls and weighs more. It will use much less fuel for frozen though. Know your target market.

Oh didn't know that just figured I would ask. Someday I will have some money to become an owner operator.

Nestle and some of their affiliates is a good place to start on the search.

I only do refer, and with my company, run out of hours every week. No sitting here. People will never stop ordering food.

Pretty much impossible. Run a light trailer so you can haul a 45k dry load when you are in a non food producing region.

No such thing. Been hauling refer only for 10 years. There are cold storages in every town, everyone has and ships food. I have a load or sometimes even 2 preplanned before I am empty and do 48 states.

Remember 45000 pound loads dont pay as much as an expedited load of 2-5 pallets. I cant tell you how imperative it is to have patience when looking for loads. Recently picked a load up from a broker that had a truck breakdown GALLUP,NM TO LI,ny cross dock 7300.00. Deadheaded from phoenix,az. Post your truck if you have a good rep and track record you will get the money. Moving for free sucks tell them to call good will i do, there the only ones i know of with alot of trucks that run for free!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sometimes ill even give them the #. If we all held back just a little the rates would go up!
