I am able to get my old job back in Colorado but I am wondering if I can request higher pay or similar to what I was getting before I left? Has anyone came back to an old job and got the pay they were getting before? I was there for almost 5 years and I am eligible for re-hire but I do not want to start at the bottom of pay.

It's a driver's market. Many companies that used to have years long pay progressions are hiring at top scale so you absolutely should not settle for a pay cut to go back to the same job you are already experienced doing. You also save them money in training costs to not have to learn how their system works. You can get right to work without any handholding. To not ask to be hired in at their current top scale would be a mistake for sure.

Even Companies that have Union Contracts can start at highest pay. Ironically they can’t pay any more than highest rate. You should always shoot for higher pay. Companies negotiate everything. Why not salary? Drivers are in demand, along with a lot of other Workers. There’s never been a better time to be a Worker since the late 60’s-early 70’s. It’s not going to last forever. Pretty soon it’ll be take it or leave it. Nows a good time to set a pace for pay, or to get a foot in at Jobs that we’re usually hard to get.

It’s food service too and the place is giving out 7500 bonuses so I wonder if I’ll get the bonus too. I just want the same pay when I left to be honest.

I heard we have new drivers getting hired in at top scale.

Sounds good, but here’s the kicker. We have straight truck drivers with “A” licenses that have been here for years and were told they would get bumped down to the bottom of the class A scale if they switched.

    Bob Dobalina Thanks this.

    I'm in the same conundrum.
    I got laid off.
Now I got called back and I want a significant raise.
I'll see what I can do do get it.
I'll ask for a raise and stand my ground.
    Good luck.
