You want respect in this industry, there are several things you need: Driver facing cams, auto transmissions, skirts covering everything, hidden exhaust, GPS-A-PLENTY on the windshield, a “they pay me to drive, I don’t fix stuff attitude”, a pretrip that consists of cranking up and leaving, the ability to take a 30 minute break on the fuel island, the inability to hit a dock within the first 10 tries, staring ahead and oblivious to all other traffic, and that’s a good start.

Maybe I should have phrased it “how to fit in today’s trucking industry”.

Recent post on C/L.......Camera watchers wanted. Spend 10 hr shift looking at a truck driver's mug. Easy job. Not too boring. Pay is good. Report any discrepensies, such as crotch scratching, nose picking, drooling, nodding off etc. Apply today. Start tomorrow.

Auto shift to each his own, I think it’s more about lowering the job to the least common denominator but I can also see where it would be nice.

As far as drive cam goes I’ve thought about getting my own camera but I have no interest in one I can’t control and one that looks at me.

tinytim, MACK E-6, 48Packard and 2 others Thank this.
