I believe it was CRST that used to (not sure if they still do) send out two brand new drivers as a team. Supposedly monitoring "training" each other as they built up the miles. Kinda' the two heads are better than one mindset.

When I trained it was mostly me driving while trainer slept or talked to girlfriends. We did a couple team drives for FedEx loads

I was a part time trainer for May, meaning I would sometimes agree to train someone when our terminal (Pensacola) had more students than trainers. The one thing that always annoyed me with the students is every one of them slept wearing a turtleneck, scarf, or both whether it was 120 out or minus 20. WTH?

Sleeping with a turtle neck / scarf is that like kids wearing hoodies in middle of summer? Can't figure that one out.

Two possible reasons for the turtlenecks. First they might have been embarrassed by any telltale "marks" left behind from a vigorous "goodbye " from a loved one, or second, your reputation as a member of those who enjoy a warm cup of "O" during the night shift.

If you have a good insurance and want your truck totalled to get out of debt. Trainer is your best option. Other than that, western is a complete waste of time and energy.

"They want drivers smart enough to follow directions, but not smart enough to ask the right questions and challenge their orders."... fixed it for you. :)
One of the reasons I didn't become a trainer for them. I knew I hadn't had enough experience enough to competently train anyone other than myself at that point. Experience comes with time, and they wanted team drivers without giving the time to either. No thanks. They wouldn't agree to only one of us doing the driving, because I don't sleep when someone else is driving and I can't supervise the trainee if I'm sleeping. :)
