I am getting my class a regardless. I went on my own ahead of even starting the school and had my permit in hand before the first day of class. I have read the Texas cdl manual cover to cover multiple times, I talk with instructors to try and get as much info as I can about anything I can think of while I have the time at the school. I have had a great experience at the school until that day. I am not going to let it ruin me by any means. I am just wanting to get what I paid for. If you bought a brand new car for 50k and it came with everything except an ECU I think you would be pissed off. It's the same thing. I have moved on past it already, I was trying to get an idea of what to do and who I should talk to about the issue, so far it sounds to be resolved by the school.

GenericUserName,, so you think it's perfectly fine when instructors doze off in the shotgun seat while new students are driving?
You call it 'whining' to voice a valid, and significant I might add, safety complaint? You should know with all your 'experience', right?

Have you ever seen a new student accidentally catch a curb or shoulder dropoff, and lose control (all while the 'instructor' is catching zzz's?
Have it your way, but a lot of these schools not only have driver & instructor, but also several student passengers in the sleeper.
I'd hate to be one that died because a student driver lost control, or haphazardly started to steer into oncoming lanes, while the 'instructor' was sleeping.

If that's your style of quality training... don't drive alongside me brother.
A monkey can get a Class A license, but it takes a whole lot more to drive Class A responsibly/professionally.

Update: school was surprisingly quick to react. Had a different instructor who is extremely helpful.

Sounds about right. Glad it worked out for you. Roadmaster is a great school. Only the losers (in my class at least) badmouthed them.

My only reason for coming here and posting about it was that I wanted to see what others experiences were and if bad how they resolved them. I'm just glad I am with an instructor that is helpful.

Im glad its working out for you. Now ask your instructor a million questions and then ask two more. Study study study. Pretrip pretrip pretrip. Stay after class as late as you can until they kick you out to practice backing. You will get out of Roadmaster what you put into it.

    Now go get em!

I'm always asking questions asking how can I improve on whatever I am working on at that time. At first I had a hard time skip shifting and he explained it to me in a different way and it helped me a lot.

Update, passed my test and moved back to Arizona the next week.

Anyone looking to take the CDL test in San Antonio and you go through a school any school, ask your instructor to teach the parallel park from lane 1 to lane 2 at DPS. The instructor will tell you they won't do that on the test, but they do.
