I was offloading into a pig and the center pod (I always start with center) was empty in maybe 10 mins at most. Started the front pod and it took forever. When it finally went empty the lever wouldn’t close on the product valve.

Ended up being a rock almost the size of a brick wedges up in there.

That was a first for me. Recall, I just started this gig 3 months ago.

Air assist lids or manual? Do you have vibrators/shakers in the trailer? When the hoppers are empty I would just run it while tapping the trailer all around with a rubber mallet to loosen up the buildup. Then, close the product and line valve to build pressure through the aerator. Open the the product valve with the line valve closed-you’ll heat lots of dry chunks being fed through. Once the pressure is relieved finish up with the line valve from the blower.

Be thankful you have manual lids. The air assist are prone to so many problems and require constant maintenance. I hated them. Just keep using those shakers and build pressure in that tank when empty to flush everything out.

Also, when empty, open and close that product valve when flushing it out to break up any buildup at that point.

Did they take the valve off to get it out?

Yes, one of our drivers was there going into the silo. He showed me what to do.

Yup that's how I would do it every time. Also start with the rear pod, if you plug up its a lot easier to suck it back in that last pod than say 1st or middle
